Kaylee knew she needed to work on not saying what came to her mind the moment she said it. Hopefully even Penny would have forgiven her for that bit of a faux pas. At least Dr. Lewis was around to cut through most of the tension and replace it with at least a different kind. She still wasn't sure if it was good or bad, but at least it stayed on a common subject.
Dr. Lewis smiled at him again. "Well I'm not sure about comfortable. And I'm sure Kaylee would agree if I suggested 'give in to her every whim'." Which didn't look like it was upsetting the teenage girl all that much to hear. "I do suggest making sure you have some idea to know what you're getting into. There are classes at the hospital if you want to look into them with baby basics. Changing diapers, feeding, bathing, and all that. The last thing you're going to want is to be petrified trying to hold that baby for the first time." She leaned a little closer and added in a loud whisper. "They do actually smell fear." Which was true to a point... Maybe not smell, but they knew when you were nervous. "They should also cover some of that in any childbirth classes, but you still have time to figure out your options there."
"Or you could, you know... Ask me," Kaylee added, hand still where she thought she could feel some sort of little bump if she pushed down hard enough. She could give Johnny all the information in the world, but that wouldn't actually make him read it like she wanted. She was a planner though. Someone who wanted to have a good idea about what she was doing before she actually did it and already know three different ways to solve a problem in case the first one didn't work. She moved her hand though when Dr. Lewis came back with a little bottle of gel and a wand connected to a box. "Right now though, you could get your phone." She tried not to wince at the cold stuff as the doctor slowly started looking like she was scanning her for illegals before boarding a plane (not that they really knew anything about that).
It was quiet at first as she tried to find the right spot and then came a very steady thrump thrump thrump thrump thrump thrump into the otherwise hushed room. If anyone was actually looking up at Kaylee though they could see the slow grin that was breaking out on her face.
