Who: Tristan and Adam
What: A ride like no other
When: Sunday early afternoon
Rating: Let's hope nothing above R

Tristan through on his tightest pair of jeans and a plain white T-shirt and headed down to his car. He through the keys in the ignition, turn slightly towards himself and waited to hear the purr. He flipped through a couple stations looking for something fun and inspirational for the drive around the island. Adam was a good guy, and Tristan found himself wondering why they hadn't started hanging out earlier. "Maybe because I hit on everything with a dick? That could be why." Tristan had gotten into the habit of answering aloud the questions he asked himself in his head.

He flipped back the levers locking the roof into place and hit the button to pull it back. It was a beautiful summer day and the wind would be nice, though it would do nothing for his hair. But at least Adam would have the same problem. With that thought in the forefront of his mind Tristan ran very quickly into the house to get a hat. He pulled away, watching very carefully for any on-coming traffic, and headed for Adam's.

When he got there he sent a text alerting the boy to his arrival and waited patiently singing along with the song on the radio. "Hey! Don't write yourself off yet. It's only in your head you feel left out, and looked down on."

Accepting Tristan's offer, Adam wouldn't have missed a chance like this to help test out a new expensive car. Driving was his idea of a good time whenever he wanted to get away from anything on his mind. Time well spent. Distraction. Foreplay. A massive amount of fun. Any number of things sprang to mind when it came to cars.

When the text beeped his phone into life, he picked it up, and a smile curled his lips as he read it. He finally put aside his laptop and switched off the TV currently playing an old film he'd been watching. Then it was just a matter of pocketing his phone and heading out of the apartment with his keys. A brisk jog down the stairs later, and he was out the front door where Tristan was waiting.

"Oh, hello beautiful," his voice rumbled in a low purr, as his eyes fixed on the vehicle-shaped object of his affection, and for several seconds he saw nothing else.

Tristan saw the look on Adam's face and decided he couldn't deny his new friend the pleasure. He opened the driver side door and jumped into the passenger seat. "For the next hour or so, she's all your's." Tristan turned up the music, because they were playing his 'jam' and started dancing in his seat while Adam wiped the dirty look off his face. "Just try to keep it to less than thirty over the speed limit ok!?"

There was no hesitation in his approach as he strolled closer, an appreciative sigh easing out of him at the sight of the smooth planes, the fine lines of the body, longing to touch the beauty laid out before him. His fingers curled into his palm in a loose fist to stifle the urge to reach out and trail his fingertips over the perfect finish, gazing longingly at the new love of his life.

To hear he was allowed to drive, he paused for a moment, only his eyes moving to look at Tristan as if to say 'are you serious?' But he didn't need to be told twice to step over and slide into the front seat. It was definitely better to be on the driver's side. The wheel in front of him, and the feeling someone trusted him enough to hand the control over to him. Tristan had already given him a good solid push into a cheered up mood, and this was potentially going to put him over the edge.

"Under thirty," he agreed as he got the car moving, "and as a bonus, I won't push you out for dancing."

His best girl, his car as it were, was comfortable all the way around. The passenger seat was actually very nice. And the console in the middle would only provide a minor inconvenience if anyone were to lean over it. Not that it was a possibility with Adam driving. "So where are we going? I didn't really have any ideas." The radio station he was listening to started playing one of Tristan's favorite songs. And he couldn't help but start freaking in the car. He was singing and dancing. He was also completely unaware of the potential implied meaning of the song.

Oh. Hell. As Tristan's voice almost drowned out the radio and his dancing grew more animated, it really was going to be a test of Adam to keep his promise not to push his companion out of the car.

"Nowhere too far off the road," he managed to speak just before a new chorus started. First of all, he'd beat himself up if he let this baby get scratched and battered. Second of all, he fully expected Tristan to beat him up, even if it was only mentally, if he let anything happen.

"Just around the outside of town, maybe over the c-" He cut himself off mid-thought, then suddenly thumped the wheel - lightly, of course - as he thought of the best place. "There's a road that curves around one of the beaches north of the island. I've hardly ever seen anyone else driving up there."

"You're the captain, captain." Tristan was recalling their evening with Natalie and couldn't resist. He turned down the radio asked, "So what's up with you and Natalie?" There was no polite way to ask the question

It wasn't an uncomfortable question, exactly, but one that managed to tug his attention away from the mobile art he was driving long enough to briefly glance over at Tristan.

"Nothing anymore. Not like that, anyway. We dated for a while back in college, had a bit of fun with it to start with. It's not that I didn't think she was gorgeous, I mean, you've seen her." He tipped a grin at Tristan, who despite being inclined toward the masculine of the human race could surely see that. "She's still gorgeous." Better than that, actually, in a way that most teenagers weren't when they grew up.

He knew there was chemistry between them, and thought he understood why now. There was something unresolved there he had decided. But in Tristan's mind there was something else. He decided to gently probe the subject to gain further understanding of what he thought could be going on in the car. "You are correct she is gorgeous. I think I am falling in love myself, though in a much different way." Tristan chuckled a little to himself. There certainly were many wonderful women on the island that he had only recently met, and they certainly were the kind of women he liked to hang out with. "But I guess my question is who came after her? Any one special?" Tristan thought this to be the most non-threatening beginning to his string of questions.

Now, that set Adam into another small smirk. It was possible Natalie had everything to make her the perfect dressing-up doll for Tristan; he could see where the love was radiating from. Really, though, they had seemed to get along fantastically in the Rock gym, even to the point of joining forces to make Adam the butt of their jokes... in the very literal sense, as he recalled.

"A few girls, all kind of different in their own way. I don't want to say they weren't special, but I'm single right now, which probably says everything about that."

Tristan had figured this much out from him mentioning his dry spell. Which for the straight man usually meant single or married. And this is where Tristan's problem laid. He couldn't not fuck with a single straight man. "So I do have to be completely honest, it's probably not a good idea for the two of us to drink alone then. I do find you attractive and since you are single I may not be able to help myself. I tend to not be able to help my advances in an intimate situation. So we can avoid the situation all together." Tristan smiled his devil smile. He had forgotten what it felt like for a long time. But now he was getting his ju ju back.

Another glance over showed that there was something of the devil about Tristan's mouth. He really was relentless, but he had a particular kind of personality that successfully carried it, and Adam had found himself enjoying the back-and-forth, and the pace of conversation they easily fell into. Even though he didn't believe for one second that Tristan wasn't using the same lines on everyone else, including men he actually had a real interest in pursuing.

"Ah, Tristan," he sighed, purely for effect, "you'd only end up breaking my heart. You're strictly hit 'em and quit 'em, remember?"

This was turning into a wonderful banter session. And now Tristan had been challenged. Adam threw his hat into the ring, and it was time to get serious. "I don't know. With the line of your jaw, and the gorgeous eyes, and your incredible personality, not to mention your gorgeous build I could change that until you got tired of me." Tristan was trying not to smile too hard. He was losing the fight.

"Huh," was his response to all that, as if giving something a great deal of consideration, when in reality he was holding back a smile that threatened to break through his increasingly thoughtful expression. "So everything you said to Natalie about me being jealous of your sculpted ass and my general lack of godliness was just..." He flexed his fingers on the wheel in an I-don't-even-know gesture, "all lies? Don't think I've forgotten about that just because you let me drive your new favorite lady."

"Well you do have to admit that I have a great ass. And Natalie is a very capable lady. I don't doubt for a second in a fair challenge there would have been a much different out come. Thus the reason I had to flip you some shit and give her a leg up." There were certain things better left unsaid, but in his lifetime Tristan had never seen them. "And I never lie, I just tease." Tristan was really enjoying the conversation. He hadn't gotten a rise out of anyone in a long time.

Adam hadn't yet looked down to establish whether Tristan's claim to be posteriorly advantaged was justified, but he suspected from their shared dedication to keep their bodies in shape that it was. He did, actually, believe Tristan when he said he was more inclined to tease than lie. Adam wouldn't be much of an officer if he wasn't a relatively good judge of character, even if he preferred to give people of the doubt and a chance to prove him otherwise. "How did I ever not notice you until now," he mused, the very beginnings of a smile returning to him.

He couldn't help himself, Tristan had to let it out. He started laughing. Not the evil maniacal laugh of a crazy person. Just a full, happy laugh. "My dear boy, I don't have the answer to that question. But I can tell you that now that you have, life will be a lot more interesting." The radio started playing this song. Tristan giggled again. "So how does she handle? The car rather."

"The expression 'handles like a dream' is so overused these days, but, yeah, like a dream." It was almost enough to make his heart beat fast. He couldn't resist pressing his foot down just a bit harder. There was something fantastic about a machine that grabbed him by the throat and growled, 'Drive me!'

"That's fantabulous. You know if you weren't the police I would have an issue with the speed, but I'm guessing you can get us out of a ticket. So why don't you stretch her legs a little bit." Tristan checked his seatbelt very quickly to make sure all was in order. Everything was as it should be. He turned the music up just a little bit and started dancing back and forth to the oldie's that were making his day so special.

He'd even go as far as to say the handling was fucktacular. Which was something he couldn't say for Tristan's dancing. If he'd had any other passenger, Adam might have attempted to turn off the radio, but he wasn't certain that Tristan would sit still even then, and seeing him dancing to music was significantly less alarming than seeing him dancing to silence.

"If I do any harm to this, I'll be the first one to point myself in the direction of the cells," he assured. Managing to avoid running anyone over was also a good thing, and as long as no straggler ran into the road where they really weren't supposed to be, there wasn't much risk of doing damage to anything but the road while he sped up the car.

For a brief moment Tristan had forgotten about the past few weeks, hell months. The 'lonely' seemed to be slipping away. His life wasn't so bad.

He was making new friends. He was living with a great guy who respected his space and was willing to make small sacrifices for a friend. He had cut down on the drinking. And Tai Chi was actually really helping with control of his power.

'Adam is a fun guy. I could totally dig hanging out with him more regularly. Wonder if I should see about maybe hooking him up with Jimmy. Adam could probably do the sourpuss a little good. Though I doubt they would let anything happen without my interference. Wonder how Adam feels about Jimmy, or guys specifically for that matter. And Jimmy is kind of, 'I don't want to date a boy because it could ruin my rep.' One thing at a time.'

Tristan was enjoying the metered hum of the engine. He actually turned the music down off to listen to it. "Nothing gets a man excited like the rumble of a good engine. Listen to that kitten purr." Tristan stretched his arms above his head, he was very thoroughly enjoying this drive. "I'm not worried about damage she's fully insured and under warranty. Besides I suspect if we hit anyone they wouldn't mind it much, she is a gorgeous car. But my god that engine, it's practically giving me wood."

A kitten? Adam heard a powerfully growling lion, one with teeth, and when it was on the road no other car had any right to get in its way. He'd worry about any guy sitting inside who didn't get wood because of it.

He chuckled at the mental image Tristan conjured up about hitting someone, his hands adjusting the wheel as he took the car around the gradually curving path ahead of them, away from all signs of buildings now. "You think if we drive into someone at this speed, we'll have time to see his longing expression as he flies across the hood?"

"You are the policeman, are you that observant? I would probably be ripping his clothes apart. Figuratively of course. You do get more points if you hit someone with bad fashion. Speaking of, when are you letting me make you over? It's a rite of passage you know." Tristan was almost as giddy as a school boy getting his first bj. So much fun for one morning. Adam had a good frame, solid build and assets that should be shown off. Tristan was going to love playing with this Ken Doll.

Points for hitting someone with bad fashion would be an interesting way to spend the drive: twenty-five for white jeans, fifty for a poncho, and one hundred for neon-pink tiger-stripe pants... which he really hoped Tristan didn't have in his wardrobe.

"To stop myself spontaneously combusting if I try to squeeze in any more excitement today, how are you fixed for the end of this week? From Thursday through the weekend, I get to have some downtime. Just so you know, I'd like to consider myself open-minded to new ideas, but if I see you approaching me with anything even vaguely resembling manicure boards and nail polish, then I'll be tipping them over your head."

The thought of getting to see Adam in his drawers was an exciting venture. Better yet a tailored suit could be even more fun. But as things stood fun was a more attractive option. "Well maybe we can skip the nail polish, but I can't relent on the manicure. Really I can't relent on the pedicure either. They kind of go together. The end of the week works well for me. I don't plan on having much going on. You aren't going to have a problem with me seeing you in your drawers are you? Because we may have to take some measurements." Tristan at this point poked Adam in the shoulder and stuck his tongue out at him.

If Tristan was anticipating the challenge of doing wonders for his hands, Adam didn't want him to be too disappointed when he saw that his nails were typically short, belonging on hands that were becoming accustomed to dealing with physical labor. There wasn't much to do with them, so far as Adam could see.

"What part of getting measured for clothes by a professional means that you need to get a look inside my underwea- okay, never mind. I think I just answered my own question."

"You are learning my boy. And I never said inside, but if you are offering..." Tristan smiled. The idea had merit. "I don't know that I can resist such enticing temptation." Tristan made sure that him checking out Adam's package was noticeable. "But never without permission. Are you at all interested in guys? Or are my grade A lines going to be completely lost on you? Just for future reference of course." Tristan wanted to see if he could make this guy squirm. And he always had to know where the line was drawn, just to make sure he was always teetering on the edge of it. That was the joy of being him.

It was possible that someone with lesser nerves would be feeling just a bit self-conscious at the level of attention right about now, but not Adam. He accounted it to a natural flirtatiousness that seemed to be so hard-wired into Tristan.

Although, Adam almost stopped short in his own sense of conversational easiness when Tristan asked him about an interest in guys. How to say that he might have had moments when he wasn't uninterested in them, without either lying, or not denying it in a way that Tristan would blow out of proportion. Because it was no big deal, not in the way Tristan meant. Everyone at least had the occasional thoughts, and, like most, he'd never gone beyond that. All this, Adam had firmly decided.

"Much as I enjoy your lines, it'd be a crime to waste those sparkling gems on me," he deflected instead with what he intended to be a smooth and unnoticeable manner. "Maybe that guy you wrote about - the one who stayed for breakfast, might appreciate them. Didn't you mention having a date with him?"

"Ooh and witty verbal fencing to boot. Be still my little heart. So my ingenious plan to get you together with Jimmy is going to fail miserably. At least I wasn't overly invested." Tristan was watching the scenery roll by at this point as the current conversation had moved out of the 'cat in heat' mode to 'be nice to the straight guy' mode. This was all good, it just meant that the flirting and teasing had a different effect. "So what you are actually saying is we need to find you a woman. And in answer to your question, he said he'd call me and we aren't going to talk about that. Except to say I know why I reserve some of my tricks for the second date."

It was good that the car was so precious to Adam, or he might've not been concentrating enough on keeping hold of the wheel to keep it steady when Tristan confessed to that plan. He strongly ignored the little stirring deep in his gut when he thought about any kind of getting together with Jimmy, much the same way he'd ignored it back in high school and beyond. No shame in that, right. Someone would have to be clinically blind not to notice that Jimmy was actually, sort of... not bad.

"We're not?" It was a change, for sure, to finally find something Tristan didn't want to talk about, and he asked companionably, "Does that mean I need to go ninja-chop someone for you?"

It had been a very long time since Tristan had been friends with a guys guy. It was refreshing. In a cute older brother way. And thus was Adam filed. In the 'you can't fuck this guy' pile and now completely off limits. "As you are a stranger to these lands I shall explain. In the typical gay dating scene there are a couple phrases to look out for. The most sinister of all these phrases being 'I'll call you.' Which means it was fun, but I got my nut. I'm done now." Tristan was starting to get a little choked up, but Adam was a friend now so he would give him a little insight. Tristan knew he would be bitchy crazy at some point and wanted to give the guy a chance to forgive him. "And while I appreciate the sentiment that would be an abuse of power and could be a black mark on your record. I knew what could happen going in. Besides you really should never put a guy into reverse cowgirl on the first date. I mean really where do you go from that?"

He was familiar with how much of a curse those three little words - I'll call you - were able to be. Difference was, they'd actually been more of a blessing in his experience, having used them himself in times when he'd wanted a nicer way, or just an easier one, of saying he was moving on. Hearing what he thought was underlying emotion in Tristan's voice, he felt a small surge of guilt for having been one of those types of guys.

"There's really no such thing as 'dude, too much information' in your mind, is there," he laughed softly, but not unkindly.

A dude? Tristan didn't remember the last time he was a dude. Seven, maybe eight years ago. And as far as too much information went, he had no comprehension of the meaning. Individually the words were simple, but putting them together they became incomprehensible. Tristan believed that surely Adam, being the strapping/gorgeous/fuck me pump worthy/lovely man that he appeared to be, must have had a girl ride him in that position, so as to appreciate the full length of his equipment. The comparison didn't seem like to far of a reach.

"Uh not really. I mean people say all the time that there are things better left unsaid, but I've never seen anything that falls into that category. Did I make you uncomfortable with the last bit? I mean should I refrain from talking about getting mind blowing, multiple orgasmic oral? Is talking about having someone bent over my headboard in doggy too much?" Tristan's smile had achieved 1000 watts and he knew it. He found a comfortable place, well comfortable for him and apparently only slightly uncomfortable for Adam. "Because if I should avoid these topics it would be good to know now. I would really hate for our friendship to end so quickly over something that could be avoided. Especially since it has only just begun."

"Not so much discomfort. More jealous that you're currently racking up more shared orgasms than me." True, he was only human and had a comfort limit just like the rest of them, but few had ever pushed it just by talking to him - though Tristan was definitely a worthy contender.

While he saw how Tristan inspired many people to tell him how some things were better left unsaid, Adam appreciated that someone felt they were able to go there with him. Sex in general wasn't a touchy subject for him, and usually when he refrained from talking about it, it was for the comfort of others whose awkwardness tended to make him empathically unsettled. The exception was when it became very personal between him and whomever, when he liked to keep certain intimacies between the two of them, but that was just him - and no reflection on how he felt others needed to be.

So Adam told him, "You don't have to avoid anything with me, as long as we can occasionally talk about things other than how your legs end up wrapping around some handsome guy's waist. Believe it or not, I'd be more disturbed if you started telling me about golf or insulted my favorite movies."

"No, no golf. I bowl. Can't get enough. Beer and bowling, with some greasy nachos. My god I could die happy at a bowling alley." Tristan sighed in longing. It had dawned on him that throughout this drive he had pretty much no idea where he was or where he was going. Which was fine, he generally had no direction any ways. It was a good afternoon, "So getting Jimmy's lips wrapped around your Johnson not going to work, nor my lips for that matter. But you have mentioned a lack of shared orgasms which means you are fond of them and missing them. What type of girl are we looking for? Give me details, I know them all. I don't have the power of my youth and cannot command them to date you, but I can make a suggestion that carries weight."

It had occurred to him, not just once, to wonder if Tristan and Jimmy had shared more than just a house, but at the same time he'd done a top job of stopping his mind from going there - which would've been really, really easier to do now if Tristan hadn't just put that image in his mind.

"Hmm, I'm not looking for a certain type," he answered, refocusing his attention on the beach that was coming up on their left. He wouldn't have minded having a constant girl in his life, but there was no one he had his eyes set on - maybe with the exception of that cute shop girl he admired from afar and hadn't talked to yet. But still, there wasn't any harm in going along with this conversation.

"If it helps, the only type of people I've discovered I can't stand to date are emos, and that's from personal experience. Although I'm pretty much out of the danger zone there, since I'm past dating whiny 14 year old girls on a bandwagon who care more about their hair than me. There you go, that seems to be my type. Anyone but one of those."

Tristan noticed small things about people. He prided himself on never having to ask how someone like a haircut. Well with the exception of Ariella, but that was different. He noticed when there was a small twitch to Adam's jaw when he mentioned Jimmy. But he couldn't decide whether to let that small thing sit. Adam was a good guy, and most certainly was shaping up to be a good friend. Most people would have thrown Tristan from the car by now, if not for the dancing then the singing at least. And Tristan was very surprised at the number of times he was able to mention Adam's pecker without him taking offense.

"Do you know how easy my life would be if you could just bone guys. I mean Jimmy is a fine specimen of man, if you can get him to eat a sandwich. But you have to be difficult and only date females. Fine. Let's see who I can come up with for you." Tristan wracked his brain. Most of his female contacts had been younger lately. Like jail bait younger, and while the term took on a whole new meaning with Adam, not great. Then Tristan thought of a wonderful idea. he pulled out his phone and sent off a text message. "I have just the girl. You will love her. That isn't me expressing my opinion though that is an order, You WILL love her. It's my sister Gabriella. She is not emo."

Tristan smiled. Gabriella was wonderful, and she could use a man in her life. But then again who couldn't? "Good then it's settled I'm setting you up with my sister. If you round the bases on the first date you better have a Jimmy hat." Tristan giggled, he made a funny.

"Eat a sandw-" Adam hoped Tristan meant that in exactly the innocent and literal way it sounded, and wasn't another example of gay terminology he knew nothing about.

Seeing the movement out of the corner of his eye, he glanced aside to see what Tristan was doing, a look of mild curiosity crossing his expression. Also, the feeling he should reach over and stop him. He was too late, and, as it turned out, correct about feeling he should've stopped him.

"Oh, no no no. Getting into dating sisters is rocky territory, and you and me aren't ready to go there just yet." Despite that, he was vaguely amused that Tristan seemed to break the old image of a brother warning guys away from a sister. Amused, yet not surprised. Tristan was, it had to be said, unique in all kinds of ways. "Especially because I'm sure that's the Gabriella I've known for years. If I hook up with anyone, this'll have to be something I do on my own."
