Who: Adam and Nathan Howard
What: Checking up on the little brother
Where: The Howards' family home
When: Afternoon
Rating: Probably low
Considering the size of the island, Adam felt a touch guilty for not sparing more than a phone call to his dad the other week, who had of course completely understood that he'd needed to concentrate on work so early into the job. It hadn't lessened Adam's desire to take his family out, or maybe haul Nate away for a few hours of relief from their mom. And better late than never.
It was why he had decided to use his free afternoon to throw a jacket into the passenger side of his car, buckle up, and start driving back to the family home. One day, he'd have more than his standard Ford to show them for all the hours he was working. It was a fantasy he occasionally slipped into whenever he spent more than five minutes driving: his dream of the customized Maserati he'd own, a beast of cosmos blue with anthracite teledials, a rich black interior - imola leather, obviously - and an engine that mercilessly ate the road. Maybe he should just be done with it and paint it bright green, since that would be the color he'd see reflected in the eyes of every other driver when they saw it.
It was a plan, anyway. For now, he had no choice but to tolerate his Ford, tolerate it more than any enthusiast should reasonably tolerate an environment-murdering piece of steel fiberglass whose new radio (currently screaming music from one of the local rock stations) was worth more than its entire blue book value. At least it managed to survive the short journey, and let him pull into his parents' driveway to park outside the house with relative ease.
