Perhaps her mom had also gotten pretty luck with her kids. So far neither of them had any sort of criminal record. The worse even Kaylee had gotten into trouble for was throwing rocks at a boy that made Lucy cry, but she had also been in kindergarten at the time. And that "tough" second-grader boy had just been a wuss who then had to admit that a girl two years younger than him had made him cry. Other than things like that, she didn't even have an infraction for something as minimal as texting in class.
She knew that meant the door was going to be difficult to manage though without possibly dropping something. Kaylee still had her protective glasses still on which was probably only going to add to her nerd status if anyone actually saw her in public with them. Maybe she needed to get a pair of Bobby Fisher's Alter Ego Goggles. At least then it would be "cool". "Sorry, wasn't expecting you to bring anything or I'd have propped the door open." She pushed the glasses up on top of her head though and offered her mom the only actual chair in the area. "Anywhere on the table is fine for the lemonade. Just... Need to get this light box plugged in and turned on." She was kneeling down on the floor to get to the strip outlet and just stayed there. Might as well get to business and then they could talk since Kaylee was already guessing this to not be a short visit.
"Now, the lamp part of it is already nice and wrapped up, but it all fits and has a little pull chain switch to turn it on and off. But this, is all Kaylee Ramsey original." She actually had a small smile putting the lampshade down over the box so the entire thing lit up.
