Nora believed she was a good parent. Sure, she hadn't carried either of her daughters for nine months in her womb, but she cared for them beyond anything else. They were the light of her life, and she would do anything in the world for them. Both her daughters had distinct personalities, which were very much unlike her own. Somehow though, they seemed to get along well, perhaps because of Nora's good nature and her ability to be nice to just about everyone. Some might say she was a bit of a pushover, generally giving her daughters whatever they wanted, but Nora didn't believe that.
With the summer months in full swing, Nora had taken to making mango shakes in the afternoons just to cool everybody off. Today, however, she felt the need to make frozen lemonades. The taste of the lemonade and the lightly crushed ice instantly refreshed her on any number of hot summer days. Coming up the stairs with two cups in hand, she tapped the door with her foot. "Kay? I have lemonades!" Nora felt like her daughters were like her best friends. And what better way to spend an afternoon than with one of her best friends and a cold glass of frozen lemonade?
