Sam apparently realized he'd offended her, and his bumbling attempt to fix it was enough to get Mia to smile again. "Yeah, no, I get it." She wondered if Sam was afraid to touch her, but managed to keep herself from blurting the question out only because someone else had walked- or rather, stumbled- through the room. She shook her head a little and gave his hand another small squeeze before she let herself relax further back into the couch. "I'm sure you'll find your perfect middle ground some day," she assured him, smiling at how comfortable the couch was.
