Alan's eyes shifted from Josie's outstretched form to the chocolate syrup that was just barely evading her reach. He could easily pull up a ladder and climb up to get it or just go to the back and grab one from their reserve stock. However, since Josie only asked if he could do it, he didn't actually think she wanted him to do it. "Yes, I could," he replied with a nod but didn't move from his spot otherwise. He wasn't being rude. Things just needed to be said to him in a specific way, and if people wanted him to do something, they needed to tell him straight out instead of asking him or suggesting he do it.
