"Yes. Hopefully, your talks with your real baby will be way in the future." She did not want to be a grandmother at age forty three. No way, no how. It was actually sort of funny that Annie was about to ask her for birth control. Though, Emma wouldn't have picked up on it, even with all the tell-tale signs-- hearing how long they'd been dating, the excuse that Annie was getting older, and rambling...
Still. The question didn't surprise her. Not much, anyways. Her daughter was responsible and wise, and clearly wanted to be safe. Emma could only commend her for that. "The pill? Or some kind of insert?" There was a difference. Some were more effective than others, and had different side effects. "Because if I say yes, which honestly doesn't matter since you could go to the clinic and get it anyway...which I guess shows how grown up you are about this and really only makes me want to say yes..." She paused to collect her thoughts before continuing. "If I say yes, then you need to make sure you remember to take it daily, and agree to get an exam and get tested and also use condoms. And it's a good idea to do a little research on what, exactly, you want to do. Taking a pill is a lot harder to remember than just getting something inserted monthly. But you'll also have to go to a doctor monthly, or every three months depending."
