Emma started as Annie came in the door. She'd been expecting her, but for some reason was still surprised. At her question, she shook her head and smiled. "I don't think so. But I figured I'd set out a mug just in case your brother came home and got jealous." Hmm. Whatever her daughter wanted to say, she didn't want to say it in front of the men. Clearly. "Don't worry. I'll kick them out if either of them try to join us." She winked at Annie and walked into the kitchen. The water was now boiling and whistling.
Carefully, she removed the kettle from the burner and poured a cup each into two of the mugs. It turned brown and frothy almost immediately. "Kitchen or living room, do you think?" She stirred the liquid and then topped it off with a handful of marshmallows each, and a dollop of whipped cream. Yum.
