"You and me," Jane corrected almost absently, "or 'us', to be grammatically correct." She barely even realised that she was doing it, or that some people might not appreciate being corrected. She waved a hand almost loftily. "We wouldn't have yelled about it if you'd just taken my opinion for what it was. Surely you hear things you don't want to hear occasionally.
"If you don't, then your friends are pandering and simpering and you shouldn't speak to them anymore."
She leveled a look in his direction, "And of course I'm interested. Just because you've got no desire to speak to me doesn't mean I stop being interested in your life."
