Lexie looked from Eisen to Rory and then back to Eisen. She had to admit, now that they were together? It made sense. Eisen and Rory had always been more in sync than she and Eisen ever seemed to be. At first she'd thought it was just because they'd been friends for so long. They were like brothers. But now... now Lexie saw the truth. Eisen had always been in love with Rory, hadn't he? Which begged the question about why he'd wanted to be with her in the first place.
She took a deep breath and wiped the tears from her eyes with the heel of left hand and looked at Eisen squarely in the face. "Yes," she told him quietly, her voice holding as much righteous indignation as she could muster (which really wasn't much, despite her anger). "You should've called me. Better yet, you should've waited. Or even, I don't know, dated me, courted me, had sex with me, said that you loved me. But you didn't." Lexie's lips trembled and she turned her eyes to Rory. "Rory. He loves you now. And h-he's..." she cast a glance at Eisen, all the anger draining from her face. "He's an amazing person. You know that. But..." she looked back to Rory. "For your sake, I hope he means it."
Perhaps it was a mean thing to say, to plant that kind of doubt. But as angry as she was, Lexie really was sincere. Looking back to Eisen, she added softly, "You deserve the best, Eisen. I'd be happy for you but I..." she breathed a shaky sigh and shook her head. "I'll go now. I'll... go." A more focused Lexie might've picked up the pieces of the plate she broke, but at that moment Lexie was much more focused on getting the hell out of there. She didn't even stop to tie her shoes or zip her coat. Thirty seconds, and she was gone.
