Was everything all right? The question was strange, but the answer was… stranger. The answer should have been no. He should have been telling Rory outright that no, he was anything but okay because not only was his sexuality in question but it put the best friendship he’d ever had in question, too. But just as he’d thought when he’d held Rory moments ago, the answer was yes. Everything was all right. Well, most everything. But the things that weren’t right could be dealt with in later, or tomorrow.
“I’m fine,” he started. “But you should know…” he paused, momentarily losing his nerve as his brain reminded him of the possible consequences for his actions, eyes averting away from Rory’s. But when he saw their twined hands, the resolve that had temporarily fizzled in the face of the confession he had to make revitalized again. Their hands looked so natural linked together. Right, he repeated in his mind. This is right. Who cares what anyone else says?
He swallowed nervously. “Rory, I…” he raised his eyes again, to look at Rory’s and yet again, his resolve strengthened again. “I think I’m falling in love with you.”
It wasn’t a question about falling anymore, really. It wasn’t even a question of thinking that he was there. Eisen was positive. He paused and shook his head. “No, let me rephrase that. I’m in love with you.”
