Laughing again, Nick nodded. “Besides that, I’d rob a bank before I allowed you to rot in jail and frankly, me ending up in jail just to break you out would just end up with both of us in jail. Pretty sure that would be a bad thing,” he pointed out. The talk of food made him laugh, and he shrugged a shoulder again. “I think we could survive,” he pointed out. “I eat plenty on my own. Besides that, I get my stock boy discount!”
Yeah. Opposite of manly, definitely. Nick looked at Sarah, noting with a little bit of relief that she was just as uncomfortable as he was. She agreed to shoes, or, tentatively agreed to shoes, and he nodded his head. “It’s no issue,” he waved off her thanks. Nick looked out for her. It was just the way things worked. He’d take care of her as long as he needed to. He did her school shopping most of the time, though he was sure that none of the stuff he bought was used, appearances were necessary to keep up. “Just, you know, stop short of buying the whole store, please. Which I’m sure you won’t mind.”
Nick watched the things Sarah was picking up and made varying faces. Some of them were… nightmares. Blinking and shaking his head, he noted that she hadn’t stopped once, and he knew enough to know that if Sarah actually wanted one of those skimpy dresses, there was little he could do to stop her, other than not pay, which he wouldn’t do. “I was thinking the same thing. Most of these things they’ll only wear once!”
Sighing heavily, he nodded and took a seat in one of the chairs beside the dressing room. “You bet your ass I will,” he pointed out.
