WHAT: Pet store shenanigans and starting on his new life’s goal.
WHERE: The pet store?
WHEN: January 29th, evening.
RATING: Low.
STATUS: Incomplete.
It was funny. Waking up this morning, Nick hadn’t known that the one thing his life was missing was a rat. Or a mouse. Or a gerbil, or a hamster… he wasn’t sure which one yet. But, as he zipped his parka and headed out to the car, it was all that was on his mind. Likely, he’d end up with something completely unexpected like a cat or a dog or some kind of awesome reptile like an iguana. That was standard Nick McDermott procedure. Having Lexie there with him was likely the only thing keeping him from actually buying a snake… though someday, he would. That was his solemn vow.
Hands stuffed down into the pockets of his jeans, he stepped out of his car and crunched along the front walk with his non-showshoed feet (someday, he would make Lexie go snowshoeing with him, he decided), and up to the door of the Tibbits home.
Raising his hand, he knocked on the door, wondering exactly who would answer. Maybe it would have been easier for him to beep from the sidewalk, but that really wasn’t his style. The bitter evening chill whipped around his face, but he simply relaxed a little more. Something about this house always made it a little easier to relax. “C’mon, Lexington, it’s freezing out here,” he mumbled, not that he actually meant it.
