All of her homework was done and Maya wasn't certain that she'd be looking at anymore until Felix needed proof-reading done. She'd done her fair share of reading early that morning, but when her phone rang and she was asked to pick up a shift at the bookstore for one of the other girls that worked in the cafe, she was quick to put the book down and to go into work. And that was how she found herself back in the cafe, wearing the apron and doing her work. Still, she was at home in the miasma of coffee. And tea. The smell calmed her down and helped her concentrate on her job.
The time came though, when the shift was coming to end. Maya sent a text to George to suggest that they chill in the cafe for a little bit. She got things like coffe and the like for free anyway, so it seemed like a logical thing to her. Once her shift was over, she hung up her apron and came out from behind the counter, going to claim a table for her and George. One away from the giggling Barbie bimbos that they'd been discussing earlier in the day. She heard the girls talking about the dance and what dresses they were going to wear and who they were going with. It was irritating just to listen to really.
And, of course, it served to remind her of her datelessness. Such a wonderful thing to think about.
