Amelia could rest assured that it would take a long more than her spitting her food out for him to stop eating, unless she had good aim and spit it into his food – then he might have to think twice, but it would probably end up with Gio finishing it anyway, after letting her take back her half-chewed beef. Being a teenage boy, Gio wasn't all that sanitary when it came to … well, much of anything.
Gio was glad he'd made Amelia laugh, though. Seeing her smile, even if it was just for a second before her hand covered it up, made him feel like he was doing something right. It had been so difficult to do that for both Calvin and Katie after they'd broken up, so that his silliness could make it easier for Amelia to admit whatever it was she had on her mind was definitely a good thing. If his power could be anything, it would be to make sure all of his friends and loved ones were taken care of and happy. Sadly, that power probably didn't exist.
"Maybe…." Gio mused slowly, about the aliens. He was now positive Amelia was going to confess a power to him, and he felt a heavy weight settle on his shoulders. How many confessions had he heard? How many more people out there had a power? It was … it was almost too much for him to take. But Gio played it cool, winding noodles around his chopsticks as fast as he could so he could put them in his mouth and mask his concern.
"Depends on the kind of freaky you're talking," he decided to say, and Gio wasn't much better than Amelia about talking with his mouth full. "Aliens might be able to change your DNA, or radiate you with their spaceships or something, so maybe. But …" Gio paused there, dipped his chopsticks back into his soup, and watched them as they stirred around in the broth. "… But I don't think aliens could abduct so many people on this island without us knowing about it. You're not the first person to tell me you can do something a human isn't supposed to."
