Gio, in turn, pointed to BBQ pork ramen and told the waiter to make it extra spicy. It was his go-to meal and had a lot of the qualities that Gio appreciated in food. Meat, BBQ, and grease. Yum. He wasn't too freaked out about what Amelia was going to tell him to ignore the fact that he was pretty hungry, so he grabbed the Sprite he'd ordered while he waited for her and gulped down a lot through a straw. Thankfully, the service was extremely fast at the restaurant so Gio knew they wouldn't be waiting very long.
After the straw left his mouth, Gio looked up at Amelia and tried to read her expression. She looked as if she were deep in thought, and that sent a shock of nerves through his system. Calm down, he told himself, because he was jumping to all sorts of conclusions that didn't necessarily have to be true. It was just that when Amelia thought something was weird, it was probably pretty freaking weird.
"Can't wait until one of us gets a car," he said, just to fill up the silence. "It's too cold out there to have to walk into town." Oh, god. He was talking about the weather. When was the last time he'd resorted to talking about the weather with Amelia? She was too good of a friend for that. Good going, his brain said, and Gio held in a sigh.
