Gideon’s eyebrow arched upward when Ori mentioned that something had happened to her on the way home from school. That was never something that an older brother wanted to hear. Ever. Especially an older brother who was as physically…incapable as Gideon was. It was a safe assumption, given that Oriana was a teenage girl, that the something that had happened to her was meant as a physical attack. Maybe an erroneous one, but safe until he learned otherwise.
“Something happened? What? D-did someone hurt you?” he took a couple steps forward, ignoring the doorframe now in favor of looking her over.
She seemed relatively unscathed, physically anyway. But there was still that air of worry and nervousness that was coming off her in waves and making Gideon all the more uneasy. There were times, when people around him felt things and it was like he was feeling them himself. Each change of emotion, each intense feeling that someone felt, was like a punch in the gut to him and each punch brought a new emotion along for the ride. For someone who wasn’t so good at controlling his own emotions, dealing with other people’s feelings wasn’t easy. Especially at times like this.
Still, he tried as hard as he could to calm himself. Ori seemed afraid; genuinely freaked out by something or other, and Gideon knew that him panicking wasn’t going to help things. “Sorry, Ori. Me p-panicking can’t be helping,” he bit his lip. “What happened?”
