Ed saying sci-fi was 'sort of like science' almost made Gio scoff, but he held it back. Science fiction tried to be like science, and in some cases it succeeded pretty well (even he could admit), but a lot of things on the scifi network were just preposterous. He knew that was the point, and it wasn't supposed to be accurate so much as kind-of-sort-of sound science-y or something, but Gio was one of those people who would sit down in front of a sci-fi movie and pick it apart. Not very fun at all, not even for him.
Which was why he usually avoided fiction.
Still, he didn't complain about Amelia's decision. He didn't mind mindless TV from time to time, so he didn't touch the remote as Amelia graciously set it near him. It seemed like they were going to talk through the movie anyway – or Ed and Amelia were, since the conversation went to Ed's college experience.
Gio itched the back of his head beneath his beanie. Ugh. "It's basically like high school stuff, right Ed?" Gio said, able to detect the edge in his own voice, but for the moment he didn't really care. "Only easier because you guys get so much vacation. Hobbs is only a community college." It's not special, he was tempted to say, but bit it back. That was too bitter, way too bitter.
