Penny didn't want to say anything about the dog, but she was thankful when Amelia brought it up. Markl would sure have a good time with Chewy, but Penny was likely to be sneezing up a storm if he tagged along. "That's fine. And yeah, we don't live that far from each other. It'll even give me time to wash up Markl and get some tea set up." She quickly grabbed Markl by his hoody and pulled him back when she noticed he was running for the street.
"Markl," she said, kneeling beside him. "You can't run out in the street, okay? There are cars, and I don't want you to get hurt. Do you understand?" Besides, she probably wasn't fast enough to snatch him up if he did happen to make it all the way down there. Markl nodded but didn't seem happy about having to be confined to one standing place.
When Penny stood up straight again, she nodded. "Yeah, I don't think I'm going. It's too much of a hassle really, and I doubt any boy would want to go with me either. Ben and I were thinking of getting a group together and doing non-prom-related activities that night. You're welcome to come if you decide not to go."
