Amelia turned her head toward Markl the second he yelled his triumph over which piece of candy he decided to take. Just watching the kid made her laugh quietly.
She wasn’t expecting him to plop his bottom down in the snow though, as he enjoyed the candy until his heart was content. It will always amaze her how children never really thought about the cold and how it could affect them. Was she ever like that at his age? If only she could remember.
Being in the position she was in made her legs start to tense up and create that tingling, needle stabbing sensation so she slowly stood up and stretched her legs out – with the dog trying to circle her legs and make her trip over the leash, not on purpose, of course.
“Were the two of you heading home, by any chance? I could go for some hot tea. Standing around in the cold isn’t really agreeing with my body.” And Amelia showed it by bouncing around in one place, while the dog barked and started to jump with her until he got bored of that and wanted to play with the other two people who were around him. She stopped a few seconds later, a little out of breath and laughing at all that chocolate around Markl’s mouth. It was cute! She was tempted to go up to him and pinch his cute little cheeks.
