Fortunately for Gio, Glory was too lost in her own thoughts to catch him looking at her, which was probably a good thing considering how awkward it would've been if she had. Not that she would've said anything about it. Once the finale finally did shake her from her thoughts, she, like Gio, couldn't help but notice the thick overtones of romance that were in the air. Also like Gio, she did her best to ignore them, which was a lot easier once they'd gotten off of the beach.
"I did too," Glory responded with a smile as she looked back at him. "And sure. We'll definitely hang out. I don't know how much of a star I'll be, though. There's the play going on soon, and people are probably more likely to go to it than to the ballet." It was a sign of how much Glory had grown in the past year that she check herself and added, "But thank you. Hopefully it'll all go well." It was her way of trying to accept the compliment without being too self-deprecating. Clearly she still had a long way to go, but at least she was trying.
When they'd finally reached her door, Glory lingered outside it for a few moments. She continued to smile, although the longer she stayed out the increasingly awkward things seemed to become. Uh oh. What now? Was she supposed to kiss him? She was pretty sure that this hadn't actually been a date, but what if there was some... expectation? After a few seconds of painful deliberation, Glory decided that the consequences of offering an unexpected (or unwanted) kiss would be worse than not giving one at all, so she leaned in to hug him gently, figuring that that would be a good middle ground.
"I'll see you soon, Gio. Happy New Year." She offered one last, bright-eyed smile before slipping into the house.
