If anything could have made his stomach flutter worse than Glory's compliment Gio didn't want to know what it was, because his insides moved around so much so quickly that it actually hurt. The aftermath was pleasant, though, and he almost felt as if he were floating. Glory kinda liked him the way he was. She didn't think he had that much to improve!
"I kinda like—" Gio began, but a flash of bright and sudden color filled his eyes and he instinctively looked past her to the night sky. The fireworks were starting, and he wondered if that was because it was the new year or if it was approaching. Risking missing some of the show, Gio fumbled to find his phone in his pocket and lit up the display so he could see the time.
Midnight.
"Glory," he said, choosing his first word of 2031 very carefully, "Happy New Year."
