"Sounds like a plan." Gio was already somewhat familiar with the college library because of his summer course (he couldn't go to Hobbs and not peek in the library a few times), but he had never searched for anything remotely close to superpowers. They might get a few hits in the fiction, but something in his gut told him they probably wouldn't find anything convincing in nonfiction.
Once Glory had the blanket around her shoulders, Gio settled himself back down on the sand, which felt much colder than he had been expecting. But what was he going to do, start shivering when he'd just told Glory to take the blanket? The last thing he wanted was for her to feel bad, so he clenched his jaw to make certain there would be no teeth chattering on his end.
"Thanks." Even though it wasn't poetry, Glory calling him nice brought a smile to Gio's face and warmth to the pit of his stomach. It was nice to know she appreciated what he'd done. "You're really nice, too. I'm sorry you, uh ... felt ... you had to clean up after me before...." Gio averted his eyes to the sand, feeling his cheeks tingle with embarrassment. He was such an idiot.
