Since Gio had only been exposed to powers that seemed completely obvious to him (exception being precognition – at least at first), he wasn't entirely convinced someone could have a power and not know, but he decided to take Glory's word for it. They hadn't named names or powers during their conversation, so he assumed she had something in mind to back up that statement. He wondered what kinds of powers her friends had.
"The good thing is it seems like if you did have a power you wouldn't be alone. There will be people who understand how it is, more or less." Gio frowned at nothing in particular. "… When I first found out about powers, it was because my friend was upset about his. I felt like if I had a power I might be able to help him better, but as it is I don't get it at all. So, there's that."
There were a bunch of people milling around the beach in preparation, but it was still easy to find a good spot to lay a blanket down. "This is good," Gio said in answer to Glory's question, and unfurled the blanket. It occurred to him that his mom might have preferred it if he used one of their beach blankets instead of one reserved for his bed, but he'd deal with that in the morning when she saw it crumpled up in the laundry room.
"It's a nice night," he said, for lack of something good to say. "Cold, but the sky is clear."
