Once they settled down, Glory would probably notice some age-old stains on Gio's carpet from various food he'd eaten without care in his room. With four boys roaming around, most of the house was like that. Gio's room usually wasn't so neat and tidy as it was that day either, but he'd picked up his dirty clothes from the floor and even emptied his hamper into the laundry room. The last thing he wanted was Glory to accidentally step on an old, sweaty shirt or worse, smell an old, sweaty shirt.
"I guess I can just tell," Gio answered, glancing between his fish and his friend's face. He could see the glare from the tank reflected in Glory's eyes. "I spend enough time with them. I can pick up on their moods and stuff … like any pet owner can. When I used to call them by name, after a while I could tell they didn't like it. Like … they were resisting it. It's hard to explain." Also, embarrassing to explain.
Which was why Gio left the fish tank pretty quickly and grabbed his bowl of ice cream before plopping down on the floor. The remote for his TV was conveniently there (because he put it there before in preparation), and he turned on the TV. The Blue Planet menu came into focus on the screen. Yup, he'd booted that up in preparation, too.
"So, let's start from the beginning," he said, and put his ice cream down only to rip open the chip bag. Glory would learn very quick that Gio loved to eat, and in mass quantities.
