Glory, on the other hand, was really not that familiar with crushes. One would think that a teenage girl would have had a whole ton of them by now, but Glory was rather atypical in that regard. She'd always been a little bit interested by Alfie, but not the same way that Laney seemed interested by him. She was just curious about how he operated, how he worked, what made him the way he was. Carter had interested her in a similar way, although not nearly to the same extent. And of course, he'd kissed her. That whole concept still puzzled her, which is one of the reasons why she hadn't really talked to Carter in a while. And of course there was Dietre. Glory had the distinct impression that she should have a crush on him. She liked him, of course. Liked him in a way that was different from the way she liked all her other friends (including Gio). She wanted to make him happy, to see him safe. But... she didn't necessarily want to kiss him. She wondered if that was odd.
Gio, though. Gio was... different. He gave her this strange, fluttering feeling in her stomach whenever he talked to her and he made her cheeks flush and her voice get all high-pitched and squeaky. This, she supposed, was what having a crush was supposed to feel like. And here she was, standing in his house! Fascinating.
Glory followed her host to the kitchen, listening attentively to his list of gifts and noting the prevalence of animals, particularly marine animals. Clearly she'd made the right choice. She'd have to remember to thank Gio's brother, if she saw him. "That sounds really great," she told him sincerely as the entered the kitchen and reached for the chips. There wasn't a lot of junk food in her own house, so chips and ice cream were a rather precious commodity. "Can I see them later? Your fish, I mean. Not the gift cards, although I'm sure they're interesting too." Some other girl (her sister, for instance) might have meant this as a ploy to get him upstairs, but sex was honestly the furthest thing from Glory's mind when she asked the question. She just wanted to see his fish.
