Eisen frowned. The answer wasn’t surprising or even remotely unexpected, but that didn’t mean that he liked it. Of course he didn’t like it. Sighing, he smoothed a hand through his hair and tried to think of a way to respond to the comment that wasn’t chastising or cruel. That wasn’t his style, especially not when the olive branch had so recently been extended and accepted. He didn’t want to test things.
“Actually, no, I don’t know why,” he explained, telling Rory that his thoughts about himself weren’t something that Eisen shared. He knew why, but he didn’t agree with it, nor would he ever. “You’re a great guy, with a good heart who happens to be smarter than pretty much anyone else I know. Of course Fiona is going to have feelings for you,” he explained. He didn’t comment on Rory’s inability to use his legs, because Rory needed to know that not everyone saw him that way. Not anyone who was worth his time saw him that way. Fiona was definitely worth his time, and it was obvious that she didn’t see him that way.
“Do you know how many people in your situation have gone on to lead happy, awesome lives?”
