Eisen listened. Biting his lip, he pondered interrupting a couple of times, but it was obvious that Rory needed to get this out of his system. Especially if the start of it had been something he’d been keeping quiet since Halloween. Rory, never one for keeping secrets (at least from Eisen), had been dealing with this alone for the past three months. His reasons for keeping quiet weren’t what worried Eisen anymore. Yeah, he was going to ask him about it later, if he didn’t get an answer, but for now, he was more concerned with keeping his friend in one piece, because it was becoming increasingly obvious that it just wasn’t the case anymore.
“Jeez, Rory,” he spoke softly, at a loss for the right words at first. What did he say? I’m sorry? No. Rory hated pity, and even if it wasn’t pity, Rory would likely think it was. After a little while thinking about it, he decided to just respond to the last part. “Why did you say no?” He had a feeling he knew, but he was also pretty sure that it was something Rory would need to get off his chest, no matter how much he disagreed.
