And just like that they were friends again. Despite all the pettiness and the arguing that had gone on over the past couple of days, Eisen was ready to step up and make Rory feel better, just like always. It was good to know that, no matter how crazy and messed up things got and what insults were flung around, they could still count on each other.
Rory closed his eyes, processing Eisen's words carefully. There was a lot of ways that he could respond - many of them negative. Rory thought of all the things that could go wrong in the next decade, or even in the next few years. Visions of hospital visits, respirators and DNR orders flashed through his mind. He wanted to tell Eisen that, despite his career goals, he was pretty sure that he wasn't going to be going to law school or to med school. If he was even able to get in anyway (which was unlikely considering that people from Hobbs rarely made it anywhere except on the island) it wasn't like anyone would hire him. He was a risk. A liability. But instead of expressing those fears, Rory just nodded and said, "Thanks Eisen. I..." he bit his lip, like he always did when he was nervous and didn't really know what to say. "You're a good friend." He turned his eyes up to him. "The best, actually."
