“Oh, good,” Ben chuckled when Charlie commented on him not finding rats in the bed. “I don’t know if I’m allergic to them or not, and I’d hate to find out right now, to be completely honest with you,” he added with a smirk. She mentioned finding a bra and Ben laughed. “Darn, you ruined my explicit fantasies about you and your sports bras. Why must you always do that?”
Ben had, of course, thought about the fact that the both of them would actually be in college this time next year. He’d taken all his prerequisites this year so that he could just start out with the fun courses to get into his architecture major, but he decided not to make a big deal of it. “Kind of hard to believe, isn’t it? No more high school drama.” he asked as he took a swig from the bottle and set it down between them, propping it against the pillows so it didn’t spill. Most kids didn’t keep the same friends through high school, let alone into college, but he and Charlie were different. He supposed his being close to Calvin didn’t hurt matters as far as that went, but it was still interesting. “Any idea what you’re going to do as far as a major?”
The mention of Calvin had him wincing. “I think he’ll be fine, eventually,” he said softly, scratching the top of his head and frowned. He felt sort of caught in the middle as far as Calvin and Katie went. As one of the few people who was trying not to choose sides, because he was close to both of them, it was hard to be in the position he was in. “It’s always hard losing someone you thought you’d be with forever, especially for the first little while, and even more so if they were your first love. But he’ll be okay eventually. We'll see to it.”
