Charlie smiled at that, the grin crooked and rather sweet as she turned back to the show for a moment before talking again. She liked watching tv plenty, but she liked talking to Ben as well. Yes, part of her was keenly aware that Ben had gotten handsome. He was good looking, charming, and really exactly what every mom wanted to see brought home for Christmas. Which was part of the problem, really. Charlie had never gone for those guys. She ended up flirting with the Lukas Foxes of the world, the guys who wouldn't expect her to give them anything but an eye roll the next morning.
"I guess it's probably better that way. I mean, if the knew the might have turned into total assholes, right? Like those actors who got told how amazing they are, and then they turn into like... divas and stuff," she said, shifting just enough to get comfortable with her back. Ben was highly comfortable to flop on, she'd learned that years ago. Calvin was as well. Janey and Josie were a little boney for her liking, but she could live with it when forced. "I think I'd hate someone who knew- I mean. If you know that what you make is amazing, then you have to talk about it right? Like when I do coding and I know it's perfect, or when I nail a cello piece I talk Calvin's ear off about it. But I know it's not like... solid gold stuff people will listen to forever. So. Yeah. Don't get a big head, or else I might slap you as well. And you can't hit me back, 'cause I'm a girl, Benny," Charlie informed the other man, going off on the tangent for a little while.
Her eyes drifted to the clock for a moment, the 11: 34 blaring at her angrily as she crossed her ankles over the side of the bed. "Are you sleeping here tonight? You can have top bunk if you don't want the couch or floor of Calvin's room. You'll have to clear off all my shit, but still. I think there are covers there," she said, trying to remember the last time anyone had slept there. It might have been Calvin when they'd both gotten sick with the same flu years ago. Their parents had worked hard to contain the illness to one room.
