Given that Rory kept glancing in Mari's direction so often, it wasn't long before his eyes locked on hers. Despite his initial embarrassment at being "caught in the act" of admiring her, Rory managed an awkward smile. He could hide the flush of his cheeks, though, and his eyes turned downward automatically. This was stupid. Why Mari would even pay attention to him at all was a mystery. She was such a wonderful, beautiful, fantastic girl, and he was... well. Less than fantastic.
As the first act ended, Rory took the opportunity to cover his mistake by pressing pause and glancing over at Mari. "You get all that? It's kind of a complicated set up." The last thing he was trying to do was make it sound like he was talking down to her - of course Mari was more than smart enough to understand even the most convoluted of Shakespeare's plays. He really hoped she wouldn't take it that way. His hand shook a little as he reached for the popcorn bowl. Why was he so nervous? Then again... he did have a beautiful girl in his room on a Friday night. And they were alone.
