Calvin's stomach did a backflip when Katie's hand touched his, and his lips twitched in a smile. He opened his mouth to thank her, maybe even to tell her on the spot that she was the most wonderful, sweet, beautiful girl he knew and he would be honored to have her as his girlfriend, but before he could breathe so much as a syllable, a familiar, stabbing pain shot through his forehead and his eyes suddenly lost their focus.
A pair of teenagers swam into his view, blurry at first and then sharper, clearer - Katie and himself. They were standing awfully close together, and she was smiling radiantly, but her eyes were turned down slightly, perhaps in embarrassment. He was saying something, although this vision had no audio, but whatever it was clearly had him nervous. Katie paused a moment, then nodded. And then... a kiss.
Calvin snapped back to reality with a little gasp, and he rocked unsteadily on his feet for a few seconds. "S-sorry." He apologized as he regained his balance. "I just... I had another one." He was actually smiling. "I guess they're not all bad." The visions were still disorienting, but at least the conscious ones seemed to be making him slightly less dazed. His gaze locked on Katie's for a moment. Could it be true? If he really was seeing the future, then...
Calvin exhaled slowly. It couldn't be possible. But what if it was? Would he actually get to kiss Katie? The very though made his skin prickle with a mixture of delight and panic. There was no mistaking the vision, though, if "vision" was even the proper term. Premonition? It didn't matter. What mattered was, he would only ever get to kiss Katie if he actually took the leap and asked her out first. He didn't like his visions; he didn't want them and most of the time he questioned their very reality, but for the present moment, this one was enough to convince him that the risk was worth taking.
"Um." Calvin began with his usual degree of nonexistent eloquence. He held out the egg he'd just finished writing on, making sure that the invisible letters were complete. "Would you dye this one? They're so much prettier when you do it. And this one's... special."
