Everything was already in order this time. David had made sure of that. The apartment was cleaned, and linguine was simmering on the stove. He had several cookbooks open, and the kitchen was a bit of a mess, but the rest of the apartment looked spotless. It was almost disturbing to him. Like no one lived there. But the point of it was to have it nice and clean for his guest. His mom had been like that. His step-mom that is. Whenever there were guests, the house was clean as a whistle. Any other day, and she could care less. Despite the fact that they weren't blood related, David had picked up a lot of things from her. More than he probably realized.
When Lexie knocked, David quickly stopped stirring his sauce and went to the door to let her in. She looked... Great. Nicer than he looked. He hadn't thought to wear anything nicer than jeans and a tee shirt. A clean, good tee shirt with nice jeans, but still. She definitely outdid him in the clothes department. "Hey." He grinned, giving her a once over, "Come in and sit. I'm not quite done yet." Commitment issues were the last thing on his mind. Currently, he was far to preoccupied with his sauce. It wasn't quite right yet.
