Who: Natalie and Evan
What: Flirting, probably.
Where: Elwood Rocks
When: Late afternoon
Rating: PG
Natalie hadn't thought about what she was getting herself into until she was already at the rock gym. Talking to boys a few months ago had not been an issue. Talking to boys now was nigh impossible because she felt like punching the majority of them in the mouth ten seconds after the conversation had started. People's minds wandered so much, and even when she tried to block the thoughts out- something she had been getting better at- some people just projected so much stronger than others. Evan Elwood struck her as the sort of person who was a definite broadcaster, especially since he was so open with his opinions.
Then again, maybe there wasn't much going on in Evan's head that he hadn't already told the world. That would make the experience considerably less painful, she imagined. Seeing no one on hand to ballet her, she moved to the bouldering section instead. Her fingers grasped the first stone as she started up the pathway marked with green markers, but it wasn't long until she came to the same stupid spot that she couldn't get past. Frowning, she stretched for it, nearly falling off the wall in the process. Huffing, she made a second attempted, stretching on her toes so far that she her fingertips brushed the edge. Almost. Almost!
But almost wasn't enough, and Natalie knew she was going down. With a quiet yelp, she landed on the mats in a safety fall, glaring upward at the wall. She could hear someone approaching, and a voice in her head was growing louder than all the background noise. "Shit," she muttered, knowing someone had just watched her debacle. Maybe if she lay still enough she would melt into the mats.
