Laura removed her chopsticks from her rice, holding them still so she could focus on Macy. "Thank you sweetheart, but no. The best thing you can do for us is continue to be your happy, wonderful self, okay? This'll pass." Again, Laura's stomach lurched, although not as badly as before. Perhaps it was the food? Laura didn't think so, though - her stomach problems had long predated the consumption of the meal, and Laura was hungry.
"It sounded like it was important in your note," Laura said coaxingly, taking a small bite of chicken. "Please tell me?" It was a question, not a command, but Laura hoped with all her heart that Macy really would tell her, although now that her daughter was hesitating about it she had a sinking feeling that the news wasn't good after all.
