Kinetic Narrative
Who: Cooper Baldwin
What: Cooper's cooking and talking to the television
When: March 20, 2033
"C'mon on Pittsburgh!" Cooper practically shouted at the television in the kitchen. It was small and attached to something (which was probably for the best) but it really didn't suit his NCAA needs. Beggars probably couldn't be choosers, especially when one was baking. The oven was preheated and the mixing bowl cradled like a child in his left arm, right arm bulging as he stirred the batter. He may have made it too thick. Eyes dropped away from the screen and looked into the bowl. Double checking the worn, folded recipe from his mom, Cooper realized he'd forgotten to put the eggs in. "That's what I get when you jokers are down in the first few minutes," Cooper chided the television screen.
While he added the eggs, the game went to commercial, finding himself singing along with the commercial. "I just want to ceeeeeelebrate, another chance at liviiiiing..." He broke down into hums as he tossed the eggshells into the trash and found t he stirring going a lot easier. He already had two plates of brownies and a dozen of cupcakes were cooling on the counter.
"And when I get done ploppin' youz guys into the pan? Well, it's time to make some butter cream icing." Why he talked to food, even he didn't know, but as the shriek of sneakers on the court came back to his ears, Coop lifted his head and began to stir rapidly. The faster he got this stuff done, the sooner he could go watch a big television. The bowl was set down as he rummaged in a cupboard, ah-ha!ing to himself as he pulled out the chip bag and plopped it down on the counter. What was basketball without salty snacks? Besides, nothing in the world was better than chips and icing.
Cooper continued to watch the game, eyes flicking between the small screen and the bowl he was mixing the icing up. It was therapeutic - not being bothered and jostled around. It was the way that Cooper had decided long ago that he preferred. Sitting down at the table, he made quick work of the cupcakes and watched the rest of the game, the remnants of the icing bowl being slathered onto crinkly potato chips.
