Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Jenny and Open to NCIS people and others
When: After Quarantine, Thursday.
Where: Her new office inside the Cole Center
Rating: PG

Jenny massaged her temples to try and relieve the pain, then popped yet another aspirin as she proceeded to flip through yet another dossier on her desk, shadowed by the seeming mountain of dossiers she had placed on the table behind her. She'd been going through these dossiers for days after her meeting. She wanted to know these people. These people who, in a very short amount of time, she would be working with. These people who might become her friends and family.
And some of whom she might have to capture or kill, or send to their deaths...
No. She couldn't focus on those things now. She needed to stay focused on the task at hand.
Her head still buzzed with the voices in her head. That hadn't gone away. Though they had given her a shot that seemed to help, somewhat. At least now she could filter it down to only a few voices (including her own) at a time, even if she still hadn't figured out how to completely filter them all out.
Of the seeming chaos of paper and metal clips around her, a neat stack was positioned on the right hand side of her desk. These were the files of people who fit the profile of someone she wanted in special operations, people with previous experience in law enforcement, or people with a certain psychological profile
Or people she knew from her own experience she could trust.
She’d start with her old team.
Yes, that seemed like a good place to start.

He gave them all a bright smile. He'd seen Ziva in quarantine but not the others. While he and Jen weren't the best of friends, he was glad she was okay--a rush of gratitude filled him suddenly and he was surprised at the ferocity of it.

"Ziva," he said, nodding to her. "You disappeared on me back at the hospital. Worried me."

He eyed Jenny carefully, looking at her to make sure she was okay. Her disappearance had worried and upset him the most. "Jen..." There was a lot he wanted to say, a lot of thoughts tumbling around and he knew he had to pick just one. "Glad you're here." Glad you're okay, he added silently.

And Abby, his Abbs! "Missed you," he whispered, his voice roughened with emotion. He and Abby would catch up later, he was sure of it.

"DiNozzo? McGee? Duck? Palmer?" he asked, directing his question to Jen.

"I did not mean to worry you" She said as she looked down. "I am sorry." It was odd for Ziva to apologize for anything, but times were terribly different for her now.

When he started to talk to Jenny, Ziva moved back to the shadows so to speak, not wanting to interrupt in any form, that and she didn't know the answers he searched for.

Gibbs ran a thumb over her wrist, nodding slightly. They'd always understood each other and this was an acknowledgment of that.

Her eyes fell shut as he did that, a simple gesture yet it in an odd way comforted her.

he tightened his grip fractionally, sending her a little extra support as well.

She returned the gesture, relaxing, it was nice having Gibbs there. It wasn't that Ziva didn't enjoy the company of the Director and Abby, because she did, it was simply that she and Gibbs had an odd bond that formed the moment he covered for her shooting Ari.

He wished he could do more. He'd always felt that if anyone understood him more than anyone in the world, it was Ziva. And it wasn't a shock that she had found him in quarantine. The only thing that surprised him was that they hadn't found the others sooner.

He didn't need to do more, his silent support was enough for her. "What are we to do?" She finally asked breaking her silence from the corner she was standing in with Gibbs.

Jenny mulled over her own thoughts as well as some of Jethro's, though it was becoming more difficult to manage all of the different voices in the room. "I'm still not sure about everyone, we're still trying to sort through all of the different people who've returned. I know for a fact that McGee is all right, he's been in contact with myself and Abby. The others I don't know, but just because they're not here now doesn't mean they won't be later. I was going to call you to talk to you first, but since everyone seems to insist on barging into my office unannounced, I guess I'll just talk to you about it now. Interested in a job?"

"McGee," he repeated, nodding, But no Duck. No DiNozzo. Those hurt like hell.

A job? What kind of job, he wondered. "I'm listening," he allowed, watching her body language.

"You'd be doing a lot of the work you did before. Investigating and apprehending suspects, going on special and undercover missions. But most of them would involve other people like us, those who don't decide to play by the rules."
