Characters: James & Lily
Content: Comforting and then some fighting
Setting: Head B & G Dorms...
James had practically had to tuck a group of first year boys into bed that night. It was uncomfortable for him, to say the least. Feeling like he'd suddenly had to play dad to a group of terrified Gryffindor firsties. Had the situation not been so terrible, he might have felt that he ought to have a pair of slippers a pipe and a glass of brandy waiting for him in front of a fire when he was done. But, as it was, he didn't. Instead he found himself feeling weary, and about ready to turn in for the night.
But he couldn't quite have that either. Dumbledore had apparently told Lily that James had something to tell her. It was beyond him why that would be. All he knew was that there was a meeting in Diagon Alley, and that he wanted to crash it. He wasn't about to tell her that, however. Despite them being somewhat official and all, he was still a boy who liked to keep secrets, especially if he thought she would be against such mischief. James didn't like being in the dark, however, and the fact that he knew about the meeting in the first place had sparked his curiosity. And made him want to know everything he possibly could. Besides, there was someone out there killing innocent people and frightening students. The Gryffindor in him was not alright with letting that happen.
Trudging back to his and Lily's dormitory, James wearily climbed through the porthole. "I could really use a glass of warm milk." He sighed, flopping onto the couch, "Or a bottle of firewhiskey." Or both probably. One to take the edge off, the other to get him to sleep. Which, he hadn't done much of in the past two days.
