Eleanore put a lot of stock in punctuality. She did not like being late, she did not like the possibility of running late, and she hated when other people were late. Patience simply was not a virtue she had. For the full five minutes she waited for Katrina to show up she frowned, counting down each second with a drumming of fingers on the arm of her couch. For as long as she has known the other woman there has never been on time when she arrived completely on time, unless she had lied to her beforehand and told her to arrive an hour earlier. She should have done that this time. Even though the other woman never failed to be on time, Eleanore was still mildly irritated every time she was forced to wait for her.
She was about ready to go on back downstairs without her when the knock came to the door. "Finally." She muttered. Pushing herself up from the couch, she padded barefoot across the floor and to the door. She pulled it open. "Did you manage to get lost or was it just that difficult to be on time?" The words were spoken breezily as she stepped back from the door to let her in, only a small note of annoyance clear in her tone. If it had been anyone else she would not have even bothered to open the door. Two minutes was her usual limit for waiting. Maybe she did like her after all.
"Come in while I get my things. And take off your shoes, please." She told Kat the same thing every time she visited, she was sure she knew it by now. There were two extra pairs of black house slippers in the small recess just inside of the door. Eleanore had no intention of allowing anyone to track excess dirt into her apartment. Leaving the other woman by the door, she moved back over to the couch where she had placed her bag.
