At his hesitation, Madeleine's smile became almost mischievous. She couldn't help but enjoy throwing someone off a bit, keeping someone else just a little off-balance. Not much, no, but-- it always was fun when someone didn't know exactly what you were going to do next.
"Mother made sure I know to cook," Madeleine replied, nodding a bit, "but I admit, I'd much rather not. The only time she ever cooked was if we were having a very small business meeting for Father at our house, and he thought the best impression would be one of a 'typical' American family." Then she added, after taking a sip of her water, "Perhaps I could come and watch you play sometime? I'm afraid I wouldn't know a thing about actually playing, but I'd love to watch."
