December 18-24Ministry Party ReviewThe Ministry's holiday party was counted as a rousing success on Wednesday night. All the who's who of the wizarding world made an appearance, hobnobbing with Ministry of Magic workers all the way from Minister Shacklebolt to the cafeteria workers. Charmers had their work cut out ensuring that the Harford's Theater on Diagon Alley had enough room for everyone, but set-up went off without a hitch.
If only they'd paid as much attention to the caterer! Rumor has it that a tray of bad hors d'oeuvres made several of the guests so sick that they had to leave! Home Office Undersecretary
Wilton Themot even had to be helped off the party floor by a theater employee. Of course, his illness didn't keep him from pawing at his young rescuer!
And the drama didn't end there. Perhaps bad food can be blamed for the very public argument between war hero and auror
Harry Potter and his long-time girlfriend
Ginny Weasley, but we believe the champagne had more to do with that. Or perhaps even Miss Weasley's decision to show up with an entirely different date!
Gwendolyn Montgomery and
Kentigerna Bundy managed to play musical dates the whole night as well, as Bundy was seen with not only her date-du-jour but half the LES floor as well! Oh, sure, it could be that she's made friends there after her numerous arrests, but we find it hard to believe that she hasn't noticed how fit some of those lawmen are. Miss Montgomery was seen with several eligible parties, including reclusive Parliament Liaison
Ian Urquhart, but she left the party with none other than
Theodore Nott...Ginny Weasley's date!
There were fireworks of several kinds that night, but those do make for the best parties. After the end of the festivities, those that were still able took the donated gifts down to the children's home where a party of an entirely different sort took place. The children made for a heartwarming end to a delightful night!
Best and Worst Dressed(photos included in the actual magazine)WorstThis black-tie affair really turned heads, but no one turned more heads than Pride of Portree player
Meaghan McCormack. The always-surprising Quidditch player showed up in a black and white striped minidress, with ruffles! She strutted around with almost enough aplomb to pull it off, but sadly she still fell short. After that kind of an eyesore, fans will surely be happy to see her back in a uniform.
Ministry worker
Pansy Higgs managed to make a stir as well. The stylish Miss Higgs showed up in a white beaded ball gown, although the over-the-top tiara would have kept her off our 'Best' list. Halfway through the night, however, she seems to have decided that jewels weren't enough. She changed her dress to bright red and gold and made it
roar at the guests! We've never seen a woman more desperate for someone to pay attention to her clothes, and judging by the way she fled the party after we're assuming she regrets the choice as well.
Ministry worker
Amanda Brocklehurst made a comparatively subtle impression, but we still feel compelled to mention the amount of ruching on her halter-top dress. There are much better ways to disguise one's assets, or lack there of!
Daphne Greengrass was a vision in pink that night. Bright, bright pink. One would normally expect that shade to be reserved for Hogwarts students on their first dance party, quite frankly! At least the younger kids have the excuse of not knowing better.
BestUnlike her teammate, Portree player
Kentigerna Bundy went with a minimalist look that spoke volumes. She looked a vision in her simple red tea-length dress with black belt. In this era of extravagance, we applaud Miss Bundy!
Morag MacDougal joined in the theme of the season with her simple strapless, which gave a whole new meaning to the term 'little black dress.' The thigh-high split certainly didn't hurt things, either.
Aspiring actress
Gwendolyn Montgomery also caused a stir of the best kind in her festive, bright red high/low dress. The full skirts and long legs probably earned her a few new fans that night!
Entrepreneur
George Weasley deserves a mention of some sort for his faux-antique robes in an eye-smarting white. Few guests elected to go with the traditional style of robes, and that combined with the color certainly made him stand out from the crowd. We're not entirely sure yet if this is a good thing, but there's no doubt that this businessman has a unique presence!
Page 6 Gossip"
She won't tell
him the real reason she has to work late every night. She lets him assume she's having an affair, but it's really because she keeps a bottle a firewhiskey at her desk. Too bad she didn't tell him sooner; then maybe he wouldn't have slept with their 17 year-old neighbor."
"Everyone's heard the rumors that
he jacks off in the back kitchen. What they don't know is that
he started the rumor as an act of revenge to drive customers away."
"
Her mysterious fall wasn't an accident. And it wasn't her husband. She just doesn't want to tell him she changed her mind about the baby."
"The neighbors don't know it, but when they hear passionate love-making through the thin walls, it's not
them. It's
him with
her brother."
"
She doesn't want anyone to know that
he gambled away all their money, but I heard one more month without money and they'll get an eviction notice."
