Who: Liara T'soni and Open to all
What: Liara has arrived in Knowhere and is getting a feel for the place
Where: Wandering around the place
When: After her meeting with Cosmo, prior to her checking the network
Rating: Low to middle. She's jumpy, but not inherently violent
Status: Open, in progress
Notes: Feel free to start a subthread too.

Liara felt the tell-tale reflex of her fingers telling her that right now was the time to reach for her gun. Each step, unfamiliar as they were beneath her feet, only made her feel more tense. Even with the knowledge that that this was, in fact, not some strange Mass Relay that had shipped her onto some other ship, did little to comfort her. The whole galaxy was in the midst of a war, she'd just watched the woman she'd followed through proverbial Hell -- which was putting it mildly on all fronts -- run off to try and put an end to it, and now she was here. Here where there was some sort of strange talking animal that told her a lot of things that didn't make much sense.

She felt her skin bristle slightly, her biotics staying at the ready, as she continued her observations. There was a slight pause to her step, her hands instinctively moving through the alien technology with a comfortable sort of intuition. She'd spent most of her life studying signs and symbols from long dead societies. The discovery that it carried with it an innate sense of how things worked? Liara wasn't about to complain, and least of all when she managed to get the thing synched to her omni-tool enough to pull up some sense of a map.

The place seemed to have a wide variety of amenities and, while certainly no Citadel, this Knowehere seemed well suited to sustaining a variety of life. The archeologist in her was almost excited about it, though the thought was still dwarfed with that plethora of her other concerns. still, she had to admit, Even with all the other unknown variables to the situation, Liara might have actually thought things were looking up.

Another few steps and her mind's auto-pilot fully took over. At once her fingers began flitting over the keys of her tool. The oyxgen ratios seemed appropriate, and the ship's artificial gravity and life support systems appeared to lend themselves well to her physiology. That at least meant she could take a breath, literally so, and avoid the anxieties that tended to come with being in an inhospitable climate. The last thing she really wanted to do was be stuck sucking down limited needs on a ship where she wasn't going to know most of the people around her.

The natural decision was to head for the living quarters and places that were marked with symbols that represented food. Now that she understood she could take on her mask, it was time to start evaluating her other needs. If even a portion of what she understood was true, and she really had been whisked away to some new ship and not just lost her mind, there were biological imperatives she knew she would need to fulfill if she wanted any hope of finding answers. Those were the basic necessities she knew she would need to get in order first. Anything else, from social policies to behaviors she might need to be aware of could come later.

The slight sound, presumably of movement just outside her line of sight, was enough for Liara's posture to shift slightly. Her shoulders tensed, her legs braced, her body was glossed in the soft blue glow of her activated biotics. It might have been an over-reaction, but after years of fighting Geth and Collectors, of being dragged through the muck that was being the Shadow Broker, and never mind the war with the Reapers, Liara had found herself understandably paranoid these days. Seeing just one Banshee had been proof enough though...

It was better to be safe than sorry.

While not exactly known for his calm or peaceful nature, Ronan was almost unnaturally still as he crouched down to one knee, taking advantage of the rare quiet in the park. Leaning against his hammer-like Universal Weapon, he tried to think of anything OTHER than the way he'd had to sacrifice his marriage, how he'd had to leave his beloved Crystal.

His reverie was broken by the silent steps of Liara, as the Accuser was alerted by even the most subtle of noises or movements.

"You look... confused. I take it you are yet another new arrival?"

The sound of a voice was not exactly a thing she'd expected, which seemed quite unreasonable given the days immediate events. The surprise, again, drew that reflexive twitch where her hand coiled around the grip of the pistol at her side. The sight of the large hammer looking thing didn't exactly put her at any kind of ease. She'd seen the nightmare that was a Krogan's biotic hammer, but at least she could take some solace that this didn't seem to be the case. Plainly put, most people didn't lean on a weapon they intended to use.

"That would be correct." Liara offered hesitantly. Betraying her situation was hardly ideal, but over-thinking didn't make much sense either. If she took this whole thing at face value, then it was reasonable to assume that everyone who showed up here was probably quite confused and displaced. "Am I to assume then that you have some experience with these arrivals?"

At least it wasn't another talking dog.
