An Offer She Can't Refuse
Who: Angela and Shepard

When: Monday, January 19th
What: Angela offering Shepard a job
Rating: Low
Status: Log, Complete
After her discussion with Angela last week, Shepard decided to fall back into old habits. In her downtime back home she trained and trained hard, so why not do the same here so she could stay her her physical peak when (or even if) she was sent back home? Rather than running on a treadmill in the gym (which could be a rather lonely activity), she decided to go for a run in the park in black, rather streamlined running tights and shirt with a hat perched atop of her head and a bottle of water in one hand. She'd been running for a good half an hour now, but hadn't even made a lap around the park--it was that big.
Angela had been just... quietly walking through the park (nature tended to soothe her and help her collect her thoughts, even this man-made nature), feeling a little... confused. She'd never been much of one for emotions, or for real attachment to anyone, which made the thoughts going through her head more than a little off-putting. Tilting her head back, she stood beside a large tree, just barely out of the shade, letting the (manufactured) sunlight beat down on her face and chest, the combination of the light and the cool temperature refreshing to her.
Shepard had passed a few people in her run, but only one person so far made her want to stop. Spotting Angela, she smiled and made her way over to her, staying silent for the moment simply for the fact that Angela looked peaceful.
Without Jane having made a single sound, Angela's eyes fluttered open, and she gave a lazy smile to the redhead, taking a moment to look at her outfit. "Well now. And people think *my* outfit is distracting..." She joked(!!!), that dry, lazy tone to her voice the same as ever. "I thought you were there... it appears I was correct."
Shepard stopped running when she was close enough and smiled at Angela as she caught her breath. "It didn't seem right not to stop and say hello." Although to be honest, when she saw Angela her first impulse was to stop and stare for a minute.
"I'd have been rather disappointed if you hadn't." The Asgardian told her, before looking back to the sky. "Hard to believe, isn't it? That this is all... man-made. I am not accustomed to anything so beautiful being of mortal design."
Shepard took a look around herself. "I've spent a lot of time on board ships and space stations, so it's a little old hat to me." Still, it made the transition a bit easier for her, being on familiar terrain. "But it's hard not to stop and admire beauty sometimes."
"Indeed." Angela agreed, all while briefly looking the other woman over. Heh. That was it, folks. Probably the absolute closest thing to flirting Angela was physically capable of. Take it or leave it. "I'm glad you're here. I was speaking with Cosmo about you... and if you're interested, I have a job of sorts to offer you, until I can find a way to get you home."
Shepard caught that and hid her smile behind her water bottle as she popped it open and took a sip. "A job? I'm intrigued." There was only so much exercise she could do, she needed to occupy her mind as well. "Tell me more."
"Well... our intel reveals that we may very soon be forced to fend off an attack by the Brotherhood of the Badoon. We suspect that they may be planning to strike at Knowhere in an attempt to eliminate a great number of threats at once. If this happens... we're going to need anyone capable and willing to fight. To defend this station. But... some of us, a select few... will likely take the fight TO them. And if that happens..." Angela trailed off briefly, before crossing her arms and taking a breath. "I would like you on my personal team of soldiers."
A fire lit up inside Shepard then, so strong that it was almost palpable. She was a solider first and foremost. She'd been it for so long that she barely knew anything else. "Yes," she replied immediately. "I'd need an education on the enemy on their tactics," obviously, "but yes."
"Of course." Angela said, a grin forming on her face. This woman seemed to crave combat and action as much as SHE did. Impressive. "I admit to being... VERY curious to see what you're capable of. And there are very few people I trust to have my back in combat. You are one of those few."
"And I promise you that that trust is not misplaced," Shepard assured her. Frankly, once she'd created a bond with someone it was virtually impossible to break it. She was a fiercely loyal person. She glanced down and smirked. "I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about how good you must be with that sword."
"And you will most assuredly see that for yourself. The Odinson himself, my very flesh and blood, was unable to take this sword from me." She said, sweetly enough her own form of bragging. "Perhaps I could teach you to wield a sword eventually. It takes much training, but... you seem to have the dedication."
Shepard did have some skill with her omni-blade when it came to melee combat, but she knew that a sword would provide a series of different challenges. She bobbed her head agreeably. "I'm a quick learner."
"And I am quite the teacher." Angela replied, herself aware of how quickly the subtext here was becoming, well... TEXT. "I would imagine that the sight of you in combat is quite... thrilling."
"That would be one way to describe it," Shepard replied, smirking before taking another mouthful of her water. She let her eyes flick over Angela's form subtly. "When would you like to start on my education?"
"I would gladly do so at ANY time." Angela told her, silently wondering if the... sexual tension here was in her head or not. "I can't think of anything I'd rather do, actually."
It really wasn't just in her head, although how she chose to react to it was really up to her. Shepard smiled and bobbed her head again. "Tomorrow then," she said as she started to back away, ready to continue her run, "I'll find you."
"Trust me, Lt. Shepard..." Angela told her, a sultry gaze upon her despite the dryness of her voice. "I will NOT be hard to find."
