Who: Bode and Laura
When: A few days after this
Where: Bode's Apartment, Sunnydale
What: Laura trying to make things work
Status: Closed; Complete
After spending a few days doing exactly what she'd previously told Bode she needed to do (thinking), she finally had a long talk with Grace, about what she wanted and needed in order to truly move on finally from losing Katie.
After that talk... she needed to talk to the other person in the situation. The other half of the pair that combined to make her happy. So she quickly got herself ready, putting in snug vinyl shorts with fishnets and combat boots, a black tank, and a black choker, before making her way to Bode's apartment, knocking on his front door with an unintentional bit of urgency.
"....please be here..." She mumbled to herself, hoping she wasn't setting herself up for failure here.
Bode was, indeed, inside. He was just fresh from a shower and had planned to settle in for the evening, which went a ways to explain the outfit he was wearing when he opened the door (a loose A Woman Scorned tee, PJ bottoms and fuzzy pink bunny slippers). A huge grin spread across his face when he saw Laura. "There she is. I was beginning to think that you'd forgotten about me."
She remained quiet for a long moment, giving him a slow, obvious once-over as she raised an eyebrow. "In that outfit, I almost wish I had." She said in that dry tone, obviously teasing him. "I thought about everything that happened when we last spoke. And I spoke to Grace about it. And now I would like to talk to you."
"Buuuuuurn." Bode couldn't help it but laugh at her comment, though. He was very comfortable in his outfit, thank you very much. "Is this a 'good news' conversation starter or a 'bad news' conversation starter?" He asked as he stepped aside to allow her entry to his apartment.
"I suppose that depends on how you feel about certain decisions I've made." She said, simply, before walking in. "I don't mince words. So I hope you aren't taken aback by my bluntness here." She told him, crossing her arms as she looked at him. "I like you. A lot. And not just as a friend. You make me smile (which, nobody else seems to be able to do right now), and we have an undeniable sexual chemistry between us. But I do also love Grace. So what I need... is to have both of you. What I want is for you both to meet, and to see if you could possibly make it work all-around, rather than just me and you and me and her."
Bode's eyebrows shot up and, taken aback, he sat down on the arm of the sofa. He always assumed that Laura's decision would be an either/or situation, but knowing Rachelle Martin-Bale, he should have considered the alternative. "And Grace would be okay with trying?"
"Indeed. She is very inexperienced in love, and is open to trying something new." Laura sighed, forcing herself to drop the stoic shield she'd had up. "I just know that I can't stop thinking about you. And how it felt kissing you."
"Nice to know that I'm memorable," he said dryly, a lopsided smile on his face. He thought on it for a minute. Was his heart big enough to love more than one person? He reached a hand out to Laura. "That's something that we have in common."
"Is... this something you're capable of trying?" Laura asked him, tentatively giving his hand a gentle, truly caring squeeze.
Bode nodded. "Momma always said that I had a lot of love to give." She probably didn't mean that in the context of being able to date two women, but shh. "I'll talk to Grace soon," he promised.
"Good. Then, in that case, I feel there are two things I need to say." Laura turned again, to be facing him. She looked as deeply into his eyes as possible, gently placing a palm on his cheek. "First... unless something falls apart after this... I am your girlfriend now. And second... you should really be kissing me now."
"'Girlfriend'," Bode repeated with a smile. He was going to be annoyingly sweet whenever he called her that in the future. Not needing to be told twice, he took her suggestion and tugged her closer, eager and happy to kiss her. He wasn't sure what the future would hold for them, but couldn't wait to find out.
