Who: Maul (with a short appearance by Obi-Wan Kenobi)
Where: In front of The Jedi Temple
When: Thursday evening
What: Preventing the Imperials from taking the temple
Status: Closed and complete
When several large transport ships touched down in various parts of Galador, spilling small armies of stormtroopers into most of the bigger cities of Galador, they saved the biggest transport for Galactic City. They'd spotted the Jedi Temple there while preparing for the debacle that was the Doom/Krennic summit, and were determined to take it for their own.
With most of the more experienced Jedi out fighting... it left the temple mostly unprotected. Obi-Wan Kenobi had been on his way back to the other Jedi when he saw an Imperial Inquisitor forcing his way into the temple.
Hurrying to get inside, he paused when he saw an entire platoon of troops marching toward the entrance. He had to hold them off... but if he did, The Inquisitor would be in there with only Cal Kestis. Cal was a damn good Jedi... but the Inquisitors were literally Jedi-killers. He was torn... did he run in to help Cal, and worry about trying to fend of the troops once they were already in? Or did he try to fight them off here, and give Cal at least a chance to have a one-on-one fight?
The question would be answered for him... by an unlikely, familiar voice.
"Kenobi... go. Help inside. I'll take care of this myself." The former Sith Lord stood there, double-bladed lightsaber in hand, glaring at the incoming troops with a frightening level of hate in his eyes. It was as though he saw the face of Darth Sidious on each and every helmet approaching. "I may not be able to face Sidious personally... but I can certainly ruin his plans."
Obi-Wan paused... how could he trust this man? His oldest, most ferocious enemy? When he thought about that... one random thought came to him: the message Fei had given him.
"Your enemy will speak three words to you... and you will know to trust them."
He had no sooner remembered that, when Maul placed a hand on his shoulder, and looked at his old foe. "None. Shall. Pass."
Three word. Spoken by his most fierce enemy. She was right, Obi-Wan thought to himself with a smirk, before giving Maul a simple nod, turning quickly and sprinting into the temple to help Cal.
The stormtroopers all pulled their blasters, looking at the single opponent before them. There had to be at least 200-300 of them. And Maul was alone. At least 200-to-1 odds.
Maul smirked, letting his cloak fall to the ground as he ignited his saber. They don't stand a chance, he thought to himself, before leaping into battle, that double-sided lightsaber twirling like a blood-red propeller, deflecting blaster fire and slicing through that white armor like a knife through butter.
Within minutes, it was over. Maul had definitely been hurt, having taken several blasts throughout the battle. Yet.. still he lived, exhausted and hurting as he kneeled among a pool of dead stormtroopers. He gazed up at the combat happening far above them, hoping that his former Master could somehow hear him.
"This... was for my brother." He said weakly, before losing consciousness and collapsing.
