When: November 8th, 2020
What: A Musician Invites A Witch To A Bar...
Rating: PG-13

Faye Brown was already at The End Zone, in an old Bills jersey (from when Marshawn Lynch was a Bill) with a Steelers jersey in tow (a Jerome Bettis one, specifically) just in case they don't blow the game. That means cheaper drinks. Normally, she's here to play music for a few hours and then drink and chat, not just drink and chat. But tonight is special: she's put herself out there to one Rhiannon Day. She's invited her to come drink with the self-described "washed-up musician." She'll certainly see if Rhi even shows up as she said. If not, it wouldn't be the first time she's been stood up. This year. Shortly afterward, Rhiannon indeed arrived, her hair brunette today (she tended to glamour her hair back and forth from day to day), and wearing a short, flowy black and red dress with black heels. As she wasn't really a sports fan, she wouldn't have known where to start with jerseys or shirts.
"Aw, you look so cute in that thing." She giggled, giving a playful curtsey as she approached. "Thanks again for invitin' me, darlin'. I've been kinda lost in my own head the last week or two. Nice to just get out, talk to a new friend, and have a few drinks."
Faye was already one beer in, since that weird Katie chick decided to offer it before taking her order proper. She wasn't exactly a sports fan herself, really only caring about football because she went to Syracuse, likes the Bills, and hates the Patriots. Being a New Yorker seemingly instills a hatred of anything Boston into you from birth. Once she saw Rhiannon in that dress and actually dressed for the occasion, Faye blushed a little. Whether it was from the compliment or from embarrassment, she didn't even know.
"You're welcome, Mac... uh, not gonna lie, I didn't exactly expect you to dress that fancily. You look really nice in that, though."
"Oh, thank you. Honestly, I didn't know what to wear to a place like this, so... I figured I'd pick something that drew attention more to my legs than what I actually had on." Rhiannon said with a cheeky grin, sitting down near the other woman. "I guess I coulda just worn jeans and one of my NIN shirts and fit in fine..."
"Hey, I wouldn't be one to judge either way. I'm in a Bills jersey." Faye chuckled as Katie walked over, ready to take an order. She actually looks at her two customers and raises her eyebrows.
"Ooh, look at you, Faye! Good on you, putting yourself out there and finding a date!" Faye blinks at Katie.
"Whoa whoa... what are ya talkin' about? This isn't a date..." Brown said, extremely confused, before looking back to Rhiannon.
"Unless you want it to be?"
"I've been around the block a few times back home, Faye, I know a date when I see it..." Katie said with her own cheeky grin.
"Anyway, uh... what piques your fancies?"
"I'll have another Miller Lite." Faye quickly requests with closed eyes, as she holds up her Steelers jersey. As if she wasn't embarrassed enough already.
"Allll right, and you'll get the half price for having a Steelers uniform since they just won. And you?" Katie asked, looking to Rhiannon.
Rhiannon just laughed at the interaction between the two, shaking her head. "Vodka/orange juice, please. Little heavier on juice. Thank you!"
She waited until Katie had walked away before looking over at Faye. "This can certainly be a date if you want it to be, darlin'. I should warn you upfront that I'm not looking for anything serious right now... but a date? That I can do."
"I knew you weren't looking for something serious coming into tonight. That's absolutely fine." Faye sniffled after saying, before seemingly catching herself. "OH, and for the record? I barely know who that Katie chick is, other than she's weird and she knows a lot about some version of me that was in her home." Brown added, kind of scratching at the back of her black bob-cut.
Rhi giggled again, raising an eyebrow Katie's way. "It's weird how that works, isn't it? Things are so strange here. And this is coming from a second-generation witch."
"You see why I'm drinking." Faye giggled as one of the TVs showed ESPN. This caught her eye as they were showing Bills highlights.
"Oh shit, the Bills won!" Katie carries two drinks over to Faye and Rhiannon: one amber, one orange.
"Heeere you are... Miller Lite for the four-eyed cutie, and Absolut with orange juice, slightly extra on the squeeze for the leggy blonde. Enjoy!" Katie presented with confidence before going back to watch her old basketball games. Faye immediately took a swig of her Miller.
"You know... that girl right there?" Rhiannon said, motioning toward Katie, "Is a perfect example of how great this place can be. I remember seeing her on the network when she first got here: afraid to talk to anyone, thinking everyone hated her... now look how outgoing she is already"
"I think she's a little obnoxious, myself... but despite that, I can't even hate her. She's happy with where she's at, she's well-meaning, and maybe it's the beer, but she's probably doing better than I am at living here if she has a job where she gets to meet all these people from all kinds of fiction." Faye took another swig of her Miller, now having finished it already.
"She's like a really talkative sheep. It annoys you a little, but you can't help but like it anyway."
"Did you need any help finding a job, dumplin'?" Rhiannon asked, always eager to help people she liked, "I know a lot of people here, I could probably help you find something..."
"Ehh, no... I've got my guitars, and enough places let me play music to where I have enough money to exist. I'm not jealous of her, just I know how she lives. I see her every now and then on that network thing myself." Brown responded.
"I get that, definitely." Rhiannon said with a little nod, looking at all the people laughing loudly, cheering for their teams. "I get a little envious sometimes. Of all these people. I just don't have people I feel that close to. And I get frustrated as well, because I know it's my own fault that I don't have any kind of love life. It's because of what you said about these 'fictional' people, and my brain not wanting to give up on the gem giving me my 'fictional' dream person, you know?"
"I get you... the last romantic anything I was in, I married someone who was an athlete. They were... well, it went poorly. That's all I'll say about it. I wish I had your dream, honestly. Now with this place hosting everyone from anywhere, it seems more possible..." Faye picked up her glass, seemingly forgetting there wasn't any beer in it anymore.
"Since I was a little girl, I always romanticized the lead character in my favorite comic book. And I guess... to this day I keep hoping the gem will bring him to me eventually. Which is really stupid, because I've always missed out on several potentially wonderful people here." Rhiannon admitted, before grinning at the empty glass. "Oh, Kaaaaaatie, my dear? Another beer for my companion here?"
"One big Brad Keselowski comin' up!" Katie said, grabbing a larger glass and drafting some beer into it.
"Wh--who is the character?" Faye simply asked Rhi as Katie sat the big glass of Miller Lite in front of Faye.
"Here is your Bad Brad special, Faye. Having a good time?"
"Oh, yes ma'am." Faye finally smiled at Katie as the autistic brunette left back to finish watching her old Sonics game.
"But yeah, who's your man, Mac?"
"Since I was a kid, I've been obsessed with The Crow. Just... Eric Draven. The look. The attitude. The passion with which he loved, died, and avenged his woman. Something about him has always called to me." Rhiannon stifled a giggle, covering her mouth. "Me n' my mama could be annoying as all get out together, between her obsession with Stevie Nicks and mine with The Crow..."
"Oh, I doubt that, Mac. I bet you two are a riot together." Faye took a swig of her fresh Miller.
"But I get that. That's certainly a good guy to strive to be with, one who will do all that for you without cause for concern they'd do anything different." She also rested a fist under her cheek. Much as there were sports all around her, she now just couldn't take her eyes off Rhiannon. There was something so sweetly about her when she spoke about things (or people) she was passionate about.
"You should come visit Cortez City sometime. You'd love it. A school for witches, a seriously haunted hotel, a mansion owned by a werewolf and a vampire slayer..."
"Yo, that sounds like it'd be fun, honestly..." Another swig of Miller, though it would take more than just those two to get the Bad Brad Special gone.
"The ghost that 'owns' the hotel is both a serial killer and the most polite, charming guy you'll ever meet." Rhiannon said with a laugh. "Honestly, there's things in my town that make the rest of this planet look normal by comparison"
"Oh yeah, like killers who lure you into their hotel before stabbing you." Faye said with as much of a serious look as she could pull off, but it doesn't take long before she's laughing afterwards.
"On earth? Not even kidding... this guy would hold a Halloween dinner every year with the ghosts of other killers throughout history." Rhi scrunched her face up cutely, looking at Faye. "I probably shouldn't find that fascinating, huh."
"You kiddin', Mac? I find that fascinating, I see why you do." There's a glimmer of intoxication in Faye's eyes. Yeah, she was interested in this girl, all right. But maybe that was the beer talking.
"Honestly, I'd say "why not go tonight?"
"Sure!" Rhiannon replied, sipping at her drink with a smile. "When we leave here tonight, just take the tram with me. The school is only a few minutes walking from the hotel, so we could stop there before I head home."
"Hell, let me go pay for the drinks and we can go now. The sun's going down anyway." Faye downed the rest of her Bad Brad Special (which was quite a lot, the girl could drink) before getting her billfold out. Katie spotted this, going to collect the money Faye left. Faye got up, and stumbled a little before setting herself right, which prompted Katie to ask.
"Hey, hey, hey... you all right?"
Faye simply nodded to Katie, but to Katie, that was hardly convincing. Katie put an arm around Faye, and put one of Faye's arms around her shoulders just to keep her steady.
"No, Katie, I'm good... trust me."
"Oh, don't you worry, Katie. I got her." Rhiannon sighed, closing her eyes and focusing as she placed a palm gently to Faye's forehead. Drawing toxins out of someone was something that was very tiring to her, and definitely not something she could do often, but she was enjoying this time with her new friend, and wasn't about to watch the woman faceplant in the middle of a bar. After that, seemingly all of a sudden, Faye could see straight again. When she blinked, her blinks were even again, and she could actually fully make out everyone around her. It wasn't 20/20 by any means (as that didn't affect her nearsightedness), but she knew where she was, who was around her, and what she was doing again. All without the hangover afterwards? Holy shit.
"I'm... yeah, I'm for sure good now. Holy shit, Rhi..."
"I swear, I always see something new in this place. It never ceases to amaze me." Katie responded, now sure her friend and her friend's date were good.
"I'm sorry for that, Rhi... I must have made an ass out of myself."
"Nah. Ya just got a little tipsy, darlin'. Nothing to apologize for. Happens to us all." Rhiannon laughed, shrugging. "I've only been able to drink (in public at least) for about 8 months, so believe me, my tolerance isn't anything to brag about either."
Faye nervously chuckled along with Rhiannon. "Uhh... anyway, how about that Cortez City?"
"Sure thing. C'mon... now that you can walk safely..." She teased, giving Faye a teasing wink. "Follow me. I know a shortcut to the tram station."
