Despite the chaos and heartbreak that seemed to sweep over Galador in the wake of the gem's most recent purge of residents, Nyx had managed to roll the punches and work with what she had left. She'd (at least temporarily) taken over main duties at the Welcome Center and the group home, not wanting either to suffer in the interim as they both lost big chunks of their employee rosters.
But now that she'd been relieved for the day, she walked out into the bright sky and cool air of Mar-Vell Park, looking stunning in a short flowered skirt and dressy white blouse, smiling lightly to herself as she looked up at the clouds.
"This too shall pass." She said in almost a whisper, arms crossed beneath her breasts.
"God, I fucking hope so," Cheryl Blossom muttered, having heard what Nyx said in passing. While Nyx was dressed in sunny clothing, Cheryl wore a black dress that covered her from wrist to ankle. This was a woman in mourning and unafraid to hide it. She paused in her step and turned back to look at the blonde. "There's a party not far from here. Could be a way to pass the time," she suggested, feeling generous in saying that much.
Nyx definitely knew who this girl was. Cheryl was like the Galador version of the "popular girl at school", the one that everyone knew of, even if they didn't know her personally. Still, Nyx could see why that was. She was stunning beyond words. "....is the infamous Cheryl Blossom inviting lil' old me to hang out?" Nyx asked with a sweetly playful tone. She knew that look, sadly. She'd seen it in a lot of folks recently and her heart broke for them. "Because if she is, I'm thinking the two of us could be more than most places are ready to handle."
A brief flicker of puzzlement crossed Cheryl's features before being replaced with a devilish smile. She figured that going to a party was a good way to get her out of her own head, at least for a little while. "Well you know my name, but I don't have the pleasure of knowing yours." She offered Nyx a dainty hand to shake.
"I'm Nyx." The blonde said with a lopsided grin, nibbling her bottom lip. Shut up, she had always thought Cheryl was gorgeous, ok? "One of the Spaceknights here. And for real... that smile? You're gonna knock me out with that thing."
"Mmm. Heavy with the compliments. I like you already," Cheryl decided. She made no attempt at hiding the fact that she was checking Nyx out before just... taking her hand like they were old friends and leading her in the direction of that party. "What exactly does a Spaceknight do, anyway?"
Sweetly, Nyx just beamed at this attention. She'd been with someone until recently, but while she did care very much for Robin, she'd never quite had anyone so... outwardly show interest like this and it felt good. "We protect Galador. And the galaxy itself, when needed." She explained, rather simply. "We wear weaponized armor and take the fight to anyone who tries to harm this world."
"Sounds like my kind of job," Cheryl replied with an impressed nod. Cheryl had a fierceness that would lend itself well to a job like that, but she was still figuring out who she wanted to be in life. "Well, on behalf of the people of Galador, I sincerely thank you for your service."
"Remember that gratitude once I have a drink or two in me and more than likely end up making a pass at you." Nyx laughed, a bit of the old wild child still alive in the now (mostly) responsible young woman. "So... I've seen you around, I've heard you mentioned... but I have no idea what you're like. What you enjoy. Any of it. Enlighten me." She said, mostly wanting to hear that voice again.
"Now that's a conversation that could take more than a few hours," Cheryl pointed out, although not unkindly(!). She thought of her answer, her expression turning sad briefly before brightening again. "So I'll just give you the cliffnotes version." She let go of Nyx's hand, if only so she could hold Nyx's bicep as they walked along. She had a way of drawing people in, of showing instant familiarity with strangers. "I enjoy a lot of things. Drawing. Singing. Archery. Back home I used to rescue strays. I liked that." It made her feel like she wasn't a fractured and horrible person, at least. "I'm a member of a gang." She blinked. "Or was a member? ... I don't know how many girls are left now." She'd have to check eventually, maybe recruit more members when her heart was up to it again. She tilted her head to one side to look at Nyx. "How's that for a start?"
"Very interesting." Nyx replied with a laugh. Cheryl was refreshingly honest, which both surprised and delighted her. "I'm very much a 'first impression' kinda girl, and I feel like me and you? Are gonna be very good friends." She couldn't help but feel some relief here. She had lost far too many friends recently, and it felt good to be making a new one now.
Cheryl saw no reason to hide who she was, which was both a blessing and a curse. She found herself curious about the woman walking beside her. "So I know what you do for a living, but you haven't told me what you enjoy. 'Quid pro quo, Clarice'." She gave Nyx a playful hip-bump as they walked along, her mood shifting to a much happier place.
"Well... admittedly I'm a bit of a party girl." Nyx laughed, her smile wide and bright. "I mean, I used to be awful. Drugs, alcohol, fights, promiscuous sex... it's how I ended up with the Spaceknights. My dad had been born on Galador, and had me sent to them for some discipline. Like those Maury episodes where the kids get sent to boot camp. But it worked, you know? I mean, I still love parties, and sex, and occasional alcohol, but I'm not a danger to myself or anyone else now. Thing is, partying was all I knew, enjoyment-wise. Only recently did I start finding other things to do. For instance, I've learned that I love animals. I could spend all day in the parks and forests here just looking at all the animals playing and everything."
"You know, there was a Tyrannosaurus Rex here up until recently. Now that was a thing of beauty." Cheryl assumed that whoever the dinosaur was attached to went home and subsequently, so did the dinosaur. She slowed their pace as she heard the thumping of music and the rabble of young adults. She let out a heavy sigh. "I need this. Just tonight, I need this."
"Well, consider me here to help you get whatever you need." Nyx told her, both flirting and being quite serious. She could tell this girl had experienced heartbreak, and she found herself feeling very protective of the redhead. "I mean that."
"Careful. I might take advantage of your kindness," Cheryl replied, a smirk tugging at the corner of her full lips. She led Nyx into the house, making a few introductions along the way. It looked like tonight was going to be a rager and for now she needed that. She needed to not think about Toni and the gaping hole in her heart since her love had left her.
"Sweetie, trust me. The mood I'm in? Take advantage of anything you want." Nyx was handling the loss better than most, but she'd still felt it. She'd lost her girlfriend, her status as the Queen's Personal Spaceknight, and several of her best friends. She needed this every bit as much as Cheryl did. "So, completely off-topic, but I gotta tell you: you have the most amazing legs I've ever seen."
Cheryl had to raise her voice over the music to be heard. "I know, right?" She certainly didn't have a problem with self-confidence. She grinned, grabbed a random shot and downed it before continuing the conversation. "But you, Nyx? Your entire figure is delectable."
Ok, so while Nyx hadn't had a lot of luck recently with connecting with people... she still knew well enough to know that when people throw words like 'delectable' around? They were at the very least very into you physically. With a wry grin, the blonde chuckled and pulled Cheryl in for a passionate kiss, making sure to grab a generous handful of the redhead's behind while doing so. "Then, my new friend, feel free to partake in said figure."
Cheryl sighed happily into the kiss and tangled her fingers in Nyx's hair, tugging her head back so she could trail the tip of her tongue along her throat. "I've decided that you're fun." And another useful distraction from her thoughts.
"You have no idea." Nyx laughed, casually grinding against her as they talked, not giving a solitary fuck if anyone was watching them. "You're very welcome to find out though..."
Cheryl set her hands on Nyx's hips and looked at her, trying to decide whether this was something that she wanted to do. Oh, why not. You only live once. In answer to Nyx's statement, she pulled her in for another kiss.
