If someone had asked her just a few years ago, Darcy never would have guessed that she would wind up being a parental guardian to several kids and in a stable relationship. She always thought she'd end up being a 'cool wine aunt' at best. It was weird to think that she now had legal guardianship over several teenagers. SO weird. She wouldn't trade her life for anything, though. She adored all of the teens that they had living with them, Thor was, well, THOR, and even his mother seemed to like her! Oh, when Frigga had shown up, Darcy had done some inner flipping out. Last she would have known, Thor was with Jane. Would she like Darcy at all? Turned out, Frigga was awesome and she liked Darcy fine. Even Thor's crazy brother was being halfway normal lately, from what she heard. Oh, they never interacted, but she knew that he was dating one of the judges from that Galador Idol show last year: the cute, kinda kooky guitarist. Hopefully she'd be a good influence on the would-be world conquerer. They didn't need him being crazy.
Her weird yet awesome life wasn't what was playing through her head at the moment, though. Well, it was, because it always was some, but she was also thinking about how much she would kill for some super strength right now. True, she had a thunder god around to do all the real heavy lifting, but she didn't want to make him do all the work. Instead, she was currently unpacking the kitchen, which still meant moving some boxes of dishes around. She was wearing a pair of biker shorts and a tank, which would normally be a little chilly, but she'd been sweating her butt off so the less clothing she could get away with, the better. She had her long, thick curls tied up in a messy bun on top of her head, and, at least to her, she looked like an all around hot mess.
Thor was not-so-surprisingly pretty chill about the big move. Actually, he was happy that they had a bigger place. They were less likely to step on each other in the mornings (or at any time of day) that way. He walked into their new home with a refrigerator tucked under one arm like a surfboard. Since he knew where to put it, he went into the kitchen and set it down, making sure to plug it in before picking it up again and placing it inside its nook. He'd picked up a few things after being around mortals for so long.
He looked over at Darcy and smiled. She could be dressed in a burlap sack and he'd still think that she was the most beautiful woman in the room. "This is better already," he decided. He set his hands on her shoulders and gave her a gentle squeeze. "Although if I'm being honest I didn't realize how much we'd accumulated since coming here!"
Despite knowing just how strong he was, Darcy still had to stop and blink when she saw Thor carrying around a fridge like it was nothing. It was crazy that she was dating the God of Thunder and stuff like him easily carrying around hundreds of pounds was just apart of her everyday life. "I think accumulating things and not knowing it is just one of those life things," she remarked. "You never know how much stuff you have until you have to pack it all." It hadn't been much to pack to move to Galador in the first place, but packing up a full apartment was an entirely different thing.
"I don't know about you, but I think it's time for a break." She looked up at him and smiled. "What do you think? I know it's a mess, but I could use a drink."
"Then a drink you shall have," Thor replied, smiling warmly. Thor had matured significantly during his relationship with Darcy. Sure, he still liked a social drink here and there and that desire to travel and battle was still there--but just shifted slightly. He would protect Darcy, the children and Galador with his life. He was no longer single-minded in his pursuits as he once was. "Shall I go get something or would you rather go out?"
With taking care of the kids, Darcy had matured a good bit, too. She wasn't exactly encouraging Thor to steal ships these days. Sure, they were far from normal, but Darcy kind of liked that. "Let's just hang here and relax a bit. Not sure I'm up for changing clothes or anything."
"Not sure that I would want you to," Thor rumbled in reply. Without a word of warning he scooped her up and carried her over to a lounge chair and gently plopped her down in it. "You will sit and relax while I get us some beer and... pizza," he decided. He'd been meaning to try that new pizzeria for a while now.
She let out a squeal when he picked her up. She loved it, but she'd probably never quite get used to it. At least he could be gentle with her, too. "Pizza sounds great," she said, grinning up at him.
Thor grinned right back. It was hard not to smile in Darcy's presence. He took a few steps away. He knew the kids were in their rooms getting things situated, so, rather than do the polite thing and go to each one of them to ask if they'd like pizza, he just boomed: "WHO WANTS PIZZA?" The automatic reply was a chorus of 'yes'. He beamed at their response and winked at Darcy. "Back in a flash," he told her, before literally flying out the door to get their dinner and beer.
She let out a laugh when he dashed off. Of course everyone in the house wanted pizza. They were teenagers! She was pretty sure they would eat pizza every day. Not that she was much better, but, as the resident normie human, she had to be a little more careful about what she ate. Her matbolism wouldn't stay great forever! She took a seat, figuring she could wait while Thor got the dinner and drinks.
Roughly twenty five minutes later Thor returned, arms ladened with beers (for the adults, thank you!), sodas (for the teens!) and pizza. "Food! Food! Food for all!" He boomed, making his way inside. He deposited the items at the kitchen island, then cracked open a beer and gave it to his lady. Always attentive to her wants and needs. "As promised," he said, kissing her temple.
Darcy just let out a laugh when the thundering elephants, also known as teenagers, came running from different directions in the house to grab food. She leaned up from her seat, kissing Thor on the cheek. "My hero."
